Man they were folding like a wet paper sack today. I was shocked when Smith hit Tree in the End Zone, cause just prior to that we went to Frank and he got stopped after two yards.
Generally in that situation, going over the top is impossible cause the pocket is collapsing around the ears of our QB. And had been much of the day.

Yeah but it doesn't take that long to get the ball to Ginn on a slant route like we have, or maybe some intermediate routes. He can get open quick, we need that. We need to get him the ball period. It doesn't have to be just as a guy who lifts the top of the D. Get him the ball on some slants, some in routes or drag routes, get him the ball on some end arounds, and he can get some yards. The Eagles do it with DJax and Maclin all the time. The Pats do it with Brandon Tate. Heck if a team is blitzing us, throw him a screen pass. We need to get him the ball so he can do something with it because he can do a lot when he has the ball in his hands.
I would agree, cept he's already been injured once and he's our Return man. I don't want him getting needlessly jacked up in the Offense and then not have him for ST. The occasional play fine but We have Westbrook who we should be putting on the field at the same time Frank is on the field to Run Bubble Screens and flats to the Sideline.

QB takes the snap and Frank and Westbrook set for Blitz pickup.
Line holds up and nobody down field they break out and give him two options that he didn't have. Or if the Line fails then one chips and the other floats out to give the QB the option. OR they both waggle and gives Alex the option of taking option with the least coverage to break.
We need Ginn occasionally but with Walker(hopefully he's back this week) Frank, Ziggy and Westbrook he's not a mandatory piece of this Offense.
Seriously I could game plan for this team with the ponies we have with a lot more imagination than what we're getting.
If we stopped with the Bell Cow approach Alex would be a lot more successful on most drives.
When was the last time we had actual tiered crossing routes? Or Post routes overlapping a crossing route?
Our Coordinators rarely do this, but if you look at what Reid or even Bellicheat does, you can see this kind of stuff in their game plan. I don't believe a Defensive HC has to know this stuff, but his OCs' do. And we NEVER run this. Mostly Go and Slants. Where is the Double Go, where is the 5 up slant out route? This stuff is what we need to get back to. But as long as the Line cannot keep the Defense off the QB we can't do it consistently enough to give our QB help. A DoubleGo would have helped where Morgan was when Smith got flagged for Intentional Grounding. Not that he shoulda got flagged there. But instead of Running that comebacker (I'm convinced that was the wrong read) he shoulda been running a curl route and making the DB think he's going in instead of out.
Ginn does not know these routes. He knows one or two of them and even then he doesn't get much separation because he doesn't have the footwork figured out. Nor does he use his head to bait the DBs' into separating themselves from his routes.
