The Haralson experiment should end in SF. I wouldn't mind laboy, brooks and briggs out there.
My concern about removing haralson is the run defense. Brooks has not been that good against the run and I have not seen laboy in that situation to have an opinion yet.

So, the team is going to keep both Laboy and Briggs. Lets not forget Brooks also.
How long before Haralson looses his starting job and maybe even becomes one of the inactives on gameday?
Or does he turn it around and become the legit pass rusher we all thought he was gonna be after 2008?

I was thinking the same thing. The only reason to keep Laboy and Briggs is because of a lack of confidence in Haralson. I also noticed Haralson playing more snaps during the preseason. I got a feeling that he is under the microscope and may end up on a very short leash.

Another thing to keep in mind, Lawson could very easily be playing for another team next season.
I have no doubt that Laboy can be a very good pass rusher, assuming he can stay healthy. Brooks should continue to develop into a better all around OLB this season.
So.... this team could easily have 2 different starting OLB next season. You can't forget about Briggs either. Could these guys make BOTH Haralson and Lawson expendable by next season?
Lawson has never been a good pass rusher. Even IF he does improve on his pass rushing this year, he'll be a free agent next season. If he gets double digit sacks this season, his price tag will be sky high. If he doesn't improve on his pass rushing, the team will most likely cut ties with him to find a better pass rushing SAM LB. Either way, it's hard to see him in a Niner uniform next year. Kinda a double edged sword.
With Haralson, I think the team assumed he'd been a little more dominant/productive than he's been. After the 08 season, we all thought this guy was gonna blow up. Last season was his first season as a full time starter, but he didn't improve on his sack totals. He wore down ALOT as the game went on and as the season wore on.
I think the team wants a little more production out of their WILL LB, which after all is supposed to be the "rush backer". I would certainly expect better numbers from that spot. Haralson has been lining up behind Justin Smith, but hasn't been able to take advantage of it. Haralson has not been winning his 1 on 1 matchups while Smith gets doubled constantly. If the Niners can put a guy at WILL that can WIN those 1 on 1s, this defense will be a hell of alot better. IMO, I think the team has found that guy with Laboy.
This team could be lining up Laboy and Smith on one side, with RayMac and Brooks on the other. Hasselbeck, Bradford, and Anderson should be a little worried about that IMO.
