Thats it Chief this is football leave the damn skirt at home. I love that ha ha

Thanks for the thoughtful response. Do you know if they played a lot durning the preseason?

Everyone is acting like I said something so crazy, but I know I've read how tough it is for rookies to go through a full season. Football is a violent sport and injury is a very real part of the game. To say something stupid like "leave the dam skirt at home" tells me you can't even grasp the issue.

I know what you're saying - but these are offensive linemen. If it was a starting RB/WR or DE or LB - I would agree with you. I personally have never heard of an Offensive lineman rookie hitting the wall.

Leave them in there, their young.
no. These guys need the reps. The coaches can be in their ear only so long that it all just gets mixed up. being on the field and going through the motions and learning as much as they can during the preseason is the way forward.

Im thinking they wont be in the starting line so much during the season. And the little chances they get will determine how many more snaps they get going forward.
Thanks fellas....

I think I'll go start another "X player is a bust/hof thread!" What do you think? Briggs seems like a good canadite for that one...
I understand your concern, but at this point in their young careers, they need to get up to speed more than anything else.
If they played only one quarter it would be why aren't they getting more reps. All players are tired and dinged up at the end of the season.

Seriously though...What an excellent situation for our team. These two rooks get to start and continue their development with first hand game experience. You can't get that in practice. Like another poster said: Reps, reps, reps! You can't get enough and their young bodies seem to be holding up well.

If they are progressing this quickly in the preseason, then I expect them to be a force by mid season's end to start our push for the post season. That is so exciting because we can finally count on our OL when we need them opening holes for Gore and Co. and protecting Alex for those two to three extra seconds.

Too much? Maybe just enough.

I agree they're not used to the longer season, but the extra reps are a necessary evil because they're not used to the NFL level of competition and they're learning a new system. Look at it this way, by late in the season when their adrenaline is lagging, their extra experience will/should maintain their effectiveness.

having played offensive and defensive line, the O-line is not the most strenuous position on the field, especially on passing plays. If these guys cant play the entire season I'll be disappointed.
They are fine, they need all the reps they can get. During the season the week is all about recovery, and they get a bye mid-season. Man up son!
It's a good point. But they need the experience before the games count; especially Davis. Get them out in the 2nd half of the last preseason game.
