Is Baas permanent answer at center?

The problem is that Baas may not be back next year. Presumably, if he is penciled in as a starter, he would be back, but if he has to compete for a starting job, and another team offers him a starting job with little competition, I would be surprised if Baas signed an extension with the 49ers.

If Bass plays well and is left in there then the brass I am sure will sign him during the season to an extension.

When heitmann gets back, I can see Baas moving to RG if Rachal continues to struggle.

We passed on some seriously talented players in the draft that we could have used in favor of strengthening the offensive trenches. There is no reason to believe that the quest for improvement ended in April when the draft concluded.

I think it all depends on how Baas plays and how quick Heitmann can come back from his broken leg. If Heitmann struggles to come back and Baas is playing well then I can see a scenerio where they don't mess with it and just leave Baas the starter. In this scenerio I could see them having to make a decision on Heitmann who will be 31 and coming off a broken leg and a 28 year old Baas entering his prime. The other scenerio is Heitmann comes back quickly, even with Baas playing well and reclaims his starting spot. In that scenerio I can see Baas getting a starting gig else where and leaving.

If we cream the Seahawks, and the O-line looks good in the process, I think the job is Baas's. A part of me thinks the young O-line will struggle in that insanely loud environment however. The 49ers will have to get up by two scores quickly to take the crowd out of the game. And since I'll be there, I'll do my part to keep as many people silent as possible.

Whether he does or not, it's great that he's playing well and that we will have some experienced depth at every position on the line.

More so than Heitmann.

Baas should be a mauler out there he just looks like a Bear or an Ogre lol He's alot more physical then any other C on the roster just he has to get the mental aspect going because he's in charge of this line now!

does anybody know how many years heitman has left on his contract? i know baas is on a one year deal.
