If he does this in the regular season, I'll give him props. Until then, he can hang out with his buddies Clayton, Coffee, and Sheets in the preseason HOF.

Dixon had a great game today, I was impressed. It is only the first preseason game though, so saying he is going to be a great player is a little premature, but so is comparing him to Coffee, Sheets, and Clayton. It was one game so give him his due, I just hope he can keep progressing and become a valuable asset in our backfield.

Dixon has strength, quickness, toughness and at times surprising speed...he didn't lead the SEC in rushing for nothing. And, nobody's accused Miss St of having an elite passing game...AD was the big show in their offense. He'll need to learn the blitz p/u's, but he has all the ingredients to succeed in the NFL...and he's being coached by Rathman, who's one of the best in the business. I like his chances...

Coffee got major yards last year but even in preseason anybody with an eye for football could see that he sucked. Any big athletic guy could pick up some serious yards with the kind of holes that he had. Coffee didn't make any cuts or moves. I remember watching his college highlights and saying 'this was a 3rd rounder?' because he never looked good.
Dixon on the other hand, was doing all kind of jukes and moves this game, and that stiff-arm for the TD was one beastly move. Coffee would NEVER have done that kind of crap. You could see it in Dixon's play in college too. Guy is a mini Jerome Bettis.
I don't know why the 49ers are trying to change his running style. Teach him protections and whatnot, but the guy is a natural with the ball in his hands. Leave it alone.

I give him a B. 4.8 avg and 100 yards is nice but 2/3 of that was against 2nd & 3rd stringers. He did seem to run with determination and looks like he might have some upside.

great performance, but last year, coffee was among the leaders in rushing yards for preseason, so i still think we should get another vet in the backfield

Dixon looked like a smaller Bettis, we were calling him "Short Bus"!

Hella stiff arm on that TD. Play of the Niners Preseason. I don't have to see any more to know. Spun the guy like a top on the ground.
