Is there too much hype surrounding this team?

No, not too much hype. Hype is simply that - hype. This Sunday we will get a little taste of how well our team is working out. We will see if we can pull things together on the offense and see if Smith can get us a few points.
YES! YES! YES!

No, it is about f*cking time we had some hype to get excited about.

The real question is will Alex Smith show up or not? Because as he goes, we go.
We just have the type of team people want to see succeed. We have the old school, no-nonsense type coach; Physical, swarm the ball defense; and the true desire to run a smash mouth offense. Everyone says they want to run, but we actually do.
the hype im hearing is from us fans and beat writters that live in CA, everywhere else they're saying we damned to hell
Not enough hype!!
Hell yes there's too much hype.

We have done nothing but avoided our latest in a long string of losing seasons. Our #1 over all pick has yet to display any form of consitency, including the end of last season when he performed decently. Morgan has yet to solidify the #2 imo. He may have been awarded it, but his play hasn't claimed it. We have rookies on our oline in positions that decimated at least a few wins all on their own, and our savior on the Dline is holing out and likely to be injured due to lack of conditioning, imo.

We seemingly have all the pieces in place, but it's a house of cards imo and one little problem brings the entire house down.

Don't Tell Me, Show Me!
I'm going to have to say yes. Just to be on the safe side in case we drop our pants midway into the season like we do EVERY year

exactly most national guys are picking the niners to win a lame division who's best team just lost their starting qb. That's not hype. It's reasonable expectations to expect a team with good talent to win 1 or 2 more games & win da division. VIkings Pats & Cowboys are playing with the hype
For the life of me I can't see how anybody can look at a Mike Singletary coached team and think that they are going to get big headed and try to mail in games.

Hmmm the Vikings and Cowboys can suck my balls... but they both won a game or two in he playoffs last year... something our team has managed to do all of once in the last f-ing decade.

I think we're way over-hyped. I think our O-line will still be one of the worst in the NFL. We think we're really gonna improve with 2 rookies on the line? We all must be smoking crack! Now our starting center has a broken leg? FUUUUG. Smith will probably do alright, but not superbowl alright... and who's gonna tote the rock around when Frank sprains his ankle in week 4?

We still should win the west but if there is one thing that the last decade has taught me its that getting your hopes up for this team is a good way to get disappointed.
Too much local hype maybe. I think we're still a blip on the national hype-ometer. But our expectations as fans are justifiably high and anything less than playoffs will implode my head.

I'm concerned how the O-line will do just like everybody else, but I feel great about the direction we're pointed in scheme wise. We finally have pedigree with Solari and Brown coaching the crew up front and our guys will have a proven formula to work with.

I feel great about where the rest of our team is at, but none of it matters if that O-line can't bring it together. For me, it all hinges on the big ugly's and they know the spotlight's on them. in that regard, the hype surrounding the team should act as an effective tool in weeding out the guys who are gonna fold when we get back in the playoffs. This line's been sub par (at best) for way too long and it's about damn time the few lingering vets we have on it felt some pressure. I've never seen a non battle tested O-line with zero expectations win a Super Bowl. Hype on media whores
i dont give a f**k. we just better win the division!!

No there isn't.

The NFC West is garbage.

Alex Smith, by default, is the best QB in the division, even though he's mediocre.

If we don't win this division this year, Singletary should be fired.
