I was at that Philadelphia game. It was awesome listening to the stone cold silence at the end of that game.

Sometimes it's tough being the greatest ever.
I wonder if he would trade being the greatest QB of all time in exchange for people not bothering him in grocery stores.

Good interview--sad about him having to gimp around on his bum knee. I guess we should be happy he's still ambulatory after all the brutal hits he took over the years. Was a little surprised he didn't put the catch as one of the 2 most memorable throws but no question about the TD throw to Taylor in the superbowl. Maybe the niners will land one of his boys as a future QB who knows......
Anyone who has played QB on even the lowest of organized levels shouldn't be surprised by this. Theres a certain vanity involved in being a QB. The ones you consider your best throws take into account not just situation/significance, but also did it come out of my hand perfectly?, was it beautiful in flight?, did it go exactly where I wanted it to?, did my throw allow reality to perfectly match my vision for how the play should have been executed?. "The Catch" is not called "the throw" for a reason. It was memorable (by the way the question was not about most memorable throw, but favorite throw), but not one of his best.
You are kidding right? "The catch" not one of his best throws? LOL I've been watching 49er games before you were born son and I can flat out tell you in no uncertain terms that after all is said and done "the catch" is not only Montana's best and most memorable throw, it is the best throw by any QB EVER in the NFL--it was a great catch by Clark but there was only one place about the size of a shoebox where that the ball HAD to be...the rest is history.

IMO it was an overthrow. The ball could be a little bit lower, and Pearson wouldn't have been able to get at it. Clark already beat him on that route.
However, I'm sure Clark wouldn't have had it any other way. That catch was Clark's best, and the most memorable of all time. It wasn't named "The Catch" for nothing.

'The Catch' wasn't a perfect throw. It was impossible to make one with two humongous Dallas defenders bearing down on Joe. But Joe made the best throw possible under the situation and gave Clark a chance to make an incredible catch.
