Agree mostly, though maybe 3 years for Franklin.

Anyway this is going to cost a lot!

no sweat, allow me to prophesize.....

A certain team wins a certain sixth Super Bowl in of all places, Dallas

2012
Salary cap is abolished
49ers are sold to Larry Ellison
Brings back Eddie D. as President/GM
49ers re-signs all their top talent

2013
49ers raid other teams' top players

2014
Oracle Field opens in Santa Clara

2015
Super Bowl XLIX (49) won by ironically, the 49ers, their record seventh

I don't see any extensions being signed until the last minute or a new CBA is agreed to.
It will be interesting to see who we franchise next year if anyone. I predict it will be Vernon Davis.
how did mike Lewis get signed through 2012
TE Vernon Davis
NT Aubrayo Franklin
FS Dashon Goldson
QB Alex Smith
OLB Manny Lawson

With all the starters that need to be re-signed this coming off-season the Niners better be planning a way to keep as many of these players as possible. They could franchise Vernon Davis, then re-sign Franklin, Goldson and Alex Smith. Then they need to let Manny Lawson go to free-agency and use their first round draft pick on a quality OLB to replace him. I think this is completely possible as long as we can negotiate fair contracts with each of these players. The one I really worry about is Aubrayo Franklin. I think he knows how important he is to our defense and will want to cash in on a huge contract.

AB, you seem to be the salary cap guru around here, what do you think about the scenario in my last post? If Alex has a decent year do you think they will have enough salary cap space to resign him, Franklin, Goldson and franchise Vernon Davis all in one off-season?

Yeah, I think we can afford, to re-up Vernon, Franklin, Goldson and even Gore, and Alex if he proves it.

Im all for letting manny go, he hasnt panned out. So, I think its all possible.
The only players we NEED to focus on extending is VD, Gore and Willis. At this point, I would not start talking about anyone else until mid to late 2010 season.

Goldson had a pretty good year, but not necessarily what a first or second rounder could do. Abrayo and Brooks also have had good years, but consistency is the key with them.

Unfortunately, Smith will probably have the most difficult time getting re-signed after the 2010 season, unless he absolutely plays lights out like we all want. If he plays the same as last year, he does not need to be back in 2011. If he shows us he is worth his salt, his extension will become high priority...

Willis 10 years 8 years from now on is more than enough
V.Davis/A.Lee 7 years you can give andy even a 10yr-contract
Goldston 6 years
Gore/Franklin 5 years 3 years/2 years (from now on)
Morgan/Lawson 4 years dont care about both of them, wouldnt miss them
McDonald/Walker/J.Hill 3 years what?/ok/what???
Need to re-structure w/Clements and M.Lewis also IMO oh yes
Re-sign D.Bly and possibly W.Harris
Updated with all the undrafted free agents so far.

Me too. I'm leaning hard towards bust though.
This is VD's last year? FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK! See what happens when you give a QB 7 years to develop?

If we don't have a winning season this year, most of these guys will walk.

Well that's a pretty lousy attitude.
