Davis had the best season of his career in spite of making a load of mistakes. Does anyone realize that he hasn't even come close to his potential yet? He's already dominant and has plenty of room for improvement. Unlike Alex Smith, Davis showed the ability he was drafted for from the first time he touched the ball, some people were just impatient waiting for him to reach this level.

Yep Vernon is finally starting to reflect what many of us thought he would be when drafted, but to be honest Vernon is lucky Mike Singletary was his HC. I'm not convinced Davis wouldn't have busted outright and had an inconsistent career at best. He had serious maturity issues and had an attitude of entitlement.

I think when HCMS sent him to the showers in front of the cameras and the world, and saw the reaction of most people which was "Right on, HCMS runnin shiz!", for the most part. I think that incident was a slap of reality and Vernon woke the hell up. Until that point I was worried, and have always been one of his stoutest supporters. Since then he has been on a one way path to being an excellent TE and he's getting better and better. He is becoming a leader of this team, and not just in title. He truly is a veteran presence thats good in the locker room.

It has taken longer than many would like, but Davis is truly becoming elite right in front of us. It's a lot of fun to watch!

Hindsight Davis was a good pick. The next best player hindsight would have been Ngata and later Cromartie. Ngata is great and Cromartie is ok but VD has hall of fame potential. He is young and tore it up last year. He looked more and more like a WR as the season progressed.

This is soo true. As crazy as it sounds after last year, he still has much room for improvement. I'm curious to how good he will be 5 yrs from now. He is fantastic the way he is. He just needs to work on the dropped passes. Which could have been part of the musical qb situation and lack of continuity at qb. But I aint making excusses. This year the niners tear it up

Baring injury, the way this guy takes care of his body there is no reason he can't play well into his 30's. I'm looking forward to 10 more years of VD....

Lmao

He'll be burning defenders for years to come.

we surely stuck our necks out there picking vernon @ 6 then making him the highest paid tight end in the league, didnt look like it was going to pan out until he exploded last year, i really hope he evolves his game even further, for example i would like to see him catch with his hands more as opposed to trapping it against his body

I'd also like to see him break every record and have a rice type of career at his position. agreed still more of a athletic freak then natural.
