Bill Walsh touched Mike Sing in so many different ways. If you watched Sing coach since he was hired, he was following Bill Walsh's blue print. Make a decision and roll with it, no buts and ifs. Obviously, McClue was against all that swift decision kind of thing. That is he rarely traded up or down or took chance with draft picks in the past.

Not sure if that is 100% true. I read in an article before that Alex Smith's family has good ties with Scotty M. The article seems to state that Alex's father and Scott are buddies.

BINGO! - I remember a lot of articles stating that, Alex Smith's dad (Doug Smith) is pretty tight with Scot. -In fact I even remember a lot of writers/fans years back being worrisome of how this might factor a management 'bias' within the locker room if Alex were ever to become expendable due to performance/continuity issues..
