Let me hear it! When SIMS subbed for ailing Staley, in my mind he did a great job not allowing big hits on Alex Smith. For people to say "get rid of him" they must not be a niner fan! Who would you put in there if Staley can't play? Nada!

I'd have to admit it. never thought i'd see this thread. But he did a good job filling in this past year.

After his performance during the '08 season I wanted him gone. But I'm glad they kept him. He proved me wrong and had a great season coming in for Staley. He's a quality backup LT.

My sentiments exactly. Now, let's see if he can repeat that. IIRC, he only gave up 2.5 sacks all year, that's not bad for him.

I think he actually performed as well as, if not better than Staley.

I wanted Staley moved to RT and Sims kept at LT.

yep, me too but oh well, this thread at this time of the year is pretty much useless.

While it can be argued that their level of play was very similar, there's no way you choose Sims over Staley as a starting LT for next season, and there's no way you trust Sims' play last season enough to keep you from drafting a RT in the 1st round this year.

I do hope he gets resigned for depth (or god forbid if a 1st round rookie T isn't ready to start by week one

)

Obviously you haven't been reading people off season mocks, almost all of them say to cut/not resign Sims...

I think he did a very serviceable job this year when he had to start, and is good depth at Left Tackle.
