"Different"...like Captain Falafel different. He can stick his race card up his ass. People are weary of him because his unqualified homie got his unqualified ass his job, and people associate his hiring with Jed's incompetence. Man the race card is such an easy way for minorities to get white people to shut up. It's like we're supposed to feel guilty of our awesomeness
Marathe's doing his job well, but he has no business dicking around with the football side of things at this point of his career. The mere fact that Dr. f**k stick qualifies the notion of him being a GM should be enough to deter any rational mind from thinking Marathe is anything other than a numbers guy.

As far as hiring a GM, this gives a big boost to Baalke, who already has a working relationship with Paraag. Ralph should get Jed on KNBR and ask him whether Paraag will report to the new GM or still directly to Jed/John. Paraag is not going to want to have a GM who cuts Paraag out, and candidates for GM are going to be wary about Paraag having the owners' ears, no matter who he technically reports to. We are not going to get a heavyweight GM who has total control.
As far as hiring a HC, I believe Paraag's statistics proved that the best way to go is to hire an up and coming co-ordinator (NoWin), not a proven NFL HC. Since Jed has noticed that the offense needs particular help, odds are we will hire an offensive OC. So, forget experienced HC's like Gruden and Billick; forget Harbaugh or other college HC's. Look at offensive OC's who are not in a position to demand complete control. And, an offensive OC might be willing to put up with the dysfunctional organization -- Yorks and Paraag in particular -- for the HC job.
So much for putting "football people"in charge.
Paraag is good with numbers; but not good with talent evaluation. He's cost the Yorks millions with his input into the Nowin hiring. There is no way Jed is going back to that guy for advice on hiring a HC.

Paraag is our cap guy and contract negotiations expert. He does a good job at both. Either way I think we need him because a lot of guys that are good with personnel are necessarily good with the numbers part.

This entire thread is based on the OP's speculation. And the above quote is ignorant at best. How do you know what he does all day? we've had some great contract negotionations with him in charge. Why the hate?
Gonza, meet SD. He usually has no idea what he's talking about and just likes to post things on pure speculation to rile up the members of this site. He thinks he knows the inner workings of a company that he actually has no knowledge on, what-so-ever.

I disagree. Paraag is one of the best Business men in the NFL right now. He's absolutely GREAT with contract agreements with players.
I agree. He's the
one guy (sorry #44) that merits keeping. What he managed to do with Willis and VD's contracts this season was eye-opening, to say the least.
The GM and the HC will make the personel decisions, but they'll need help when it comes time to haggle with agents. Paraag seems unusually adept at doing that. Keep him.

Too much speculation going on here. Makes me almost wish we had something else going on so people would have something else to talk about.

Anyone can write up a contract. Seriously. It's not like they'd find someone off the street to replace him. But his type who deal heavily in that stuff are a dime a dozen.
My concern is that he has the ear of Jed York. And when things have gone as far south as they have, wouldn't hurt to get fresh faces and new ways of thinking.

Yeah, those college idiots should have no part in an NFL office. Next thing you know some college graduate is going to get an internship in the league office and work his way up to commissioner.

I don't know about that. It's certainly not a sexy job, but it's a critical job and a good pencil necked geek can have a huge influence on your franchise. Does the name Carmen Policy ring a bell?

The Yorks, like all incompetent and besieged owners and political figures, value loyalty over all else.
The Yorks totally fear "outsiders" who come with power and independence. This is very threatening to them.
It is very tempting for them to promote in-house, to make sure there are loyal people at every position. The problem is that they may be promoted to positions they are not qualified for.
Paraag is evidently extremely talented at what he does and it would seem to be a bad move for the Yorks to promote him to an unfamiliar position where he would likely fail and his talents would be lost.
It will be very, very interesting to see if the Yorks will bring in a strong, independent and powerful coach who might clash with the York Way and, most disturbing, be given credit for any success.

Paraag is to Jed what Carmen Policy was to Eddie. Jed is going to get it right this year, and Paraag will make sure we stay out of Cap hell. Jed is the young guy in the NFL owners circle, so he has to take his bumps, but it will make him better, it will make this team better.

Paraag was just promoted again today (2/24) to Chief Operating Officer. WTF?!!
I think Jed just wants to surround himself with young compliant bucks that he has an existing relationship with, because anyone off the street with experience will challenge his 29 year old inexperienced ass. I do not see a future Eddie D in Jed York.
I don't see a John McVay/Carmen Policy type in Paraag either.
This is pathetic.
