If you dare "throw them open," they may not look back for the ball before it gets there or they will not break when or where they were supposed to. Hence, INT! If we want Smith's stats to improve, it is going to require far more than just him improving: his OL, his receivers, and his OC must improve as well.

I can totally understand the hate directed at a #1 pick with $25+ million guaranteed by the age of 25....we all can only dream of such a fantasy....but give the man some rope to hang himself...by all accounts, he has proven himself to be the hardest working dude on the team both on and off...physical talent can only take you so far...but the quality and work ethic he displays in the film room, practices during the off season and breaks (crabtree) and during OTA & training camps will have to pay off...noting his college coach, Urban Meyer, insights.
