I think Rodgers would be in the same position as Smith. Rodgers has had the benefit of learning and studying the same offensive system for 5 years. Alex Smith has been under 4 different offensive systems.

I agree with you. But we will never know how good Smith could have been in his first 5 years because of the idiot Coach Nolan! He didn't have a clue about bringing along a rookie quarterback. While Rodgers had the benefit of playing behind Brett Favre and the same offensive scheme each year, Smith had no proven quarterbacks to learn from and play behind. He was thrown to the wolves his first year because there was nobody else to turn to. This was the biggest mistake Nolan made his first year; not signing a proven veterean quarterback. Instead, he stuck with the likes of Tim Rattay (later traded), Ken Dorsey and Cody Pickett. What made me even more upset that year was that Kurt Warner was available as a free agent from the Giants, and McNolan didn't even bother to bring him in for a meeting. Then Arizona signed him, and we all know how that has turned out. Arizona is moving on to the second round of the playoffs after going to the Supebowl last year. Meanwhile, we languish in mediocroty because we've never had a QB who has performed at a high level since Jeff Garcia. Hopefully Alex will pulll it all together next year, but I'm not holding my breath.

Well if that's the case why scout anybody? Just plug them into a certain system and bam, all pro. Talent has nothing to do with it.

I'm not sure what you are trying to say. All I said was that Rodgers has been a completely different situation than Smith. The 49ers have been a horrible organization completely unable to develop a young QB. The Packers were able to let a young QB sit and watch while learning. Pretty easy to see that Smith would be doing much better with the Packers and Rodgers would be doing a lot worse with the 9ers.

because he is the biggest hater on the board, i question if he is even a fan anymore. If rodgers was in the same situation smith was thrust into he would have done the same thing.
