The defense kept us in a lot of real close games. This team is real close to being a playoff team. We lost 3 games by 3 points, 1 game by 4 points, 1 game by 6 points and 1 game by 7 points. A lot of close games.

Your post brings to light something that's not mentioned much around here.

This team can't score enough points to overcome mistakes.

Lots of teams give up a turnover or a dropped ball and still win.

Humm. I haven't seen any Alex-detractors listing any Alex plays as the reason we missed the playoffs. Are they out of bed yet?
were around.....were always around

His multiple INTs in the Titans and Eagles games.

You forgot the stupid reverse fumble against the seahawks.

this is the one that killed us in seattle , cuz if memorie serves me wright not only VD droped a TD also Crap !

and Gore's fumble

True true but everyone keeps saying vernon dropped a TD pass, but Walker also dropped a gimmie TD catch in that seattle game too. Had it in his hands and dropped it when he hit the ground, plus the ref missed an obvious PI on that play as well.

Also Parys Haralson unable to corral CJ of the Titans on fourth down. We stop them there and the game was over..... Every game had a few plays that lost it for us. We should never be in those position is our offense was half way decent. Smith sucks.

Dont remind me
Isn't anyone encouraged about HOW CLOSE we were? I am.
Not satisfied, but encouraged. This team could have been 10-6 this year and should only improve next year.
I hope Brett Favre and his stupid Vikings make it to the Superbowl and lose by 1 point in the final 2 seconds of the game.

If we get a legit returner and a few upgrades I think we can make the playoffs. Remember Battle's fumble vs Seattle? That also cost us that game because it led directly to a TD.

That blame lies on the coaching staff, not Battle. Battle wasn't the one who lost possession anyways, it was Brandon Jones who lost possession of the ball as he was trying to hand it off in a crowd of defenders.

Regardless of that specific play, Battle is an awful punt returner and always has been.

Throw in Delanies Td drop against Seattle..

Parys harlason missing the tackle on Chris Johnson on 4th down.

i agree it's not Battle's fault. he is doing the best he can. its the coaching staff and gm who released rossum with no one to replace him with. u dont release a guy when u have no one behind him at a crucial position such as this. i would loooooove to know the reason behind the rossum release because it definitely had nothing to do with his play on the field. i hope the guy was snorting coke off of his helmet in the locker room or something because if it was just some petty personal thing between him and sing or someone else on the coaching staff then they cost us the season in my eyes.

Those are three plays we can "see". But there were many other little plays that accumulated to make those 8 losses. We all can see that certain players had good years and others did not. But it is clear in my mind that we have made major strides in our play. Now we need a few more players, and a few more hard decisions have to be made by McSing. Then it has to be played out on the field.

Yep. Games ever rarely come down to "3 plays", they come down to consistency. No other stat is so glaring than 3rd down conversions. If we even get anywhere near 55% we're easily a playoff team.

What you're saying makes sense. The games shouldn't have come down to those 3 plays, but in this case, if those 3 plays had ended in our favor, we win those 3 games. So in this instance, those 3 individual plays would have meant a playoff birth for us.

10-6? We could have been 11-5!
