General Rules for Team Improvement...

Most coaches do not say that. If Belicheck or the Colts or the Steelers coach is asked this question, I'm sure they would give a definitive answer supporting their QB.

ok lets hash up what could have been (coaching scenario) and then talk about HC options going into next season when the team already has a HC in place who is not going anywhere for at least 1 more season. i think ive been here before

Cowher wasn't s**t until Big Ben arrived (Franchise QB)

Shanahan wasn't s**t until Elway got them 2 SB's (Franchise QB)

Bill Belichick wasn't s**t until Brady arrived (Franchise QB)

anybody notice something? they were nobodies until the team got themselves a FRANCHISE QB

If we had a franchise QB on the roster we would have made it to the playoffs and all of a sudden Singletary would be a GENIUS and everyone would be on his nuts.

That's what I'm saying. I just think it's funny how everyone is saying "lets bring in Shanahan!! Let's bring in Cowher!!"

Do you guys honestly believe they are going to turn this team into a playoff team just because of their presence? Or because of their "X's and O's knowledge" No it wont happen until we find a franchise QB, hopefully Smith can become that next season or at least be good enough to take us to the playoffs...if not we move on..

Didn't he go to a Superbowl with Neil O'Donnel and repeatedly went into the playoffs with Kordell Stewart at QB? Just sayin.

Yeah they had a pretty talented team, I'm not saying he's a bad HC but it starts with talent. We're pretty much the same team as last year yet we look MUCH better this year. That credit goes to Sing, yet everyone wants a new HC after every loss..lets face it we're not as talented as the Vikings, Colts, Patriots and a new HC is not going to make us a playoff team overnight.

Yeah. I'd pull Cowher out of that group. He was in Pitt for 12 seasons before Big Ben arrived. During that time they had eight playoff appearances and a Conference Championship with four different QB's including O'Donnel, Tomzak, Stewart and Maddox.

Compare their roster to ours this year, they had more talent than we did..that's what I'm getting at. Yes they are great HC's but they aren't saviors..unless we start drafting good talent and find ourselves a franchise QB (or at least someone decent..hopefully Smith) we will always be mediocre doesn't matter who the HC is.

Cowher is the only one that stands out to me because he did it on a consistent basis with different QB's who weren't so great.

Funny you say that cause Cowher is the only retread HC I would even want. I was just saying they weren't as bad as you were making them out to be.

some of you guys missed my point! I wasn't ACTUALLY advocating for a coaching change! More asking if we are all about improving the team, why not upgrade a coach?

Cowher and those might be overrated, but at the end of the day 99% would take cowher or a dungy over a sing...

i never said they were bad HC's, they were great..what I'm saying is how everyone wants to dump Sing for one of these HC's when we really don't have the talent that these HC's had to work with..that's all. All these guys had some decent talent, maybe not the best but they had enough..once they found their franchise QB they won the big one.

All I'm saying is to give Sing a chance, he's made us a much better team with pretty much the same team as last years except for Crabtree and a few others.

VD is a playmaker bcus of Sing
our D is being mentioned around the league bcus of Sing
Crabtree didn't get benched bcus of holding out, he became our #1 WR bcus Sing wants to win

Lets wait and see and maybe Sing can become one of these great HC's that everyone looks up too, but lets not run him out of town after just one season.
