Perhaps Singletary just wanted to shut NinerTalk up for a while?

It's because Singletary is about winning. He knows what winners look like and he isn't convinced yet.
Alex needs to show that he can own this offense.

Don't exactly remember, but didn't he also stress that he didn't want a qb competition? Or is that something I read on here

That's BS and you know it. He didn't say "Alex is our QB and we want somebody better."
He said "Alex is our QB right now."
That's your take and your spin on what he said.
The bottom line is Alex has improved and we don't have better options for 2010.

"Bipolar ass"? Is that some new sexual technique involving a threesome? Just asking.

Important points to remember. I still think we draft a QB this April with a mid-round pick though -- just in case.
I also think it will be interesting how Nate Davis looks after a full off-season.

Well if Sing is worried about the fans and media's opinion then he's an idiot.

IMO, we all hear what we want to hear. MS has shown the willingness to adapt according to most of what he's seen on the field. All season he seemed to choose his words very carefully when talking about Raye, Smith or Hill and I don't think he is really happy with any of them. I doubt you'd hear MS being as uncertain publicly about Willis, Gore or VD.

I don't know why anyone would interpret the statement as anything but the truth. If I was in charge, I would be of the same opinion. Smith is the best they have right now, but that doesn't mean you don't ever stop looking for upgrades in positions not locked up by star players. Smith is not a star player in the NFL.

Since it is so necessary to have a billion zillion threads on smith I've decided to just copy paste my post. Call it a media blitz if you will.
Fun Fact,
Alex Smith is 4-1 in home games this season out scoring his opponents 74-24. Not saying this is any indication of whether or not he is going to polish his game to be a top passer but it is a nice start and a pleasant contrast to all the hater jargon.
I'm now realizing how many alex threads there is on the first page..... wow
