Clements is going to have to re-do his contract. That's way to much money if he drops to 3rd DB.

Where are you getting these numbers from? Wilhelm was picked off the street for veteran minimum. Takeo Spikes is making $3 million a year (he signed a 2 year contract just last last spring). Patrick Willis is only making $500,000 in base salary this year (though his original salary included $12 million in guarantees).

All you need to do to know that's wrong is look at Alex Smith's salary which shows him making $11.8 million this year when he restructured his contract last year and is making right around $2.5 million a year.
