49ers Have Never Been Beaten this Year...Only Out Coached | Page 4

Now I am getting pissed! This coaching staff is ruining this team. Bold statement #1. In every game our 49ers have played this year, they have been the most athleticly gifted and most physical team. Can any LB run with VD? Can any safety take down Gore in the open field? We have the most gifted defensive front seven in the league. Our O-line is made up of first or second round picks and they are strong talented, formerly succesful men. Yet every damn game we are completely out coached. When we go up against great head coaches like Andy Reid, it becomes galringly obvious. Is Philly a talented team, no doubt. But their coaches put them in a great position to succeed schematicly. They dictate what the other team is going to do. When your team is well coached, mediocre players can succeed. (see Matt Cassell in NE and now in KC) There was a play around 4:00 to go in the 1st quarter. A 3rd down play for the 49ers around mid field. Genius Jimmy Raye stacks 3 WRs to the left side with the entire play based around Alex's ability to stay in the pocket or throw left. Now here is where having coaching matters. Philly saw this and then brought the safety down to the line to apply hard pressure off the left side. Where Alex wanted to throw. Now understand the play it self was a failed design, where by outside of the left, Alex had no other options to throw to....no back sneaking out the right, no FB, TE...nothing. So Philly reconginzes that and stacks pressure on the side Alex wants to throw. With the un-blocked blitzer screaming at him, Alex is forced to now roll right, where he has lots of time and no pressure....but unfortunately also no one to throw the ball too. Alex throws it away and once again the Niners fail on third down. This was not our line's fault, it wasnt Alex's fault and the receievers were doing their job. Bottom line, is this play represents the fact that our coaches (mainly OC) is being out-mathced, out-schemed, all game long. More Examples... - we continue to run in bunched formations, and it is always a run. (I havent seen a flea flicker, screen or hell even play action ever run out of that formation). Every defense knows now when Norris enters the game...it is a run. - Offense continues to let the defense dictate the play (no audibles, or read and react is going on). When was the last time you saw the play come in quick enough for Alex to get to the line and even have time to call an audible??? - Have they ever sent Brandon Jones on a vertical route??? - When a team is obviously bring heavy pressure, have you ever seen the 49ers run a play to take advatange of that?? Have you ever heard the annoucers say, the 49ers did a good job of taking advantage of that blitz?? No. While other teams actually hope and wait for the 49ers to blitz in order to take adavantage of it with screens, quick slants and deep bombs. - End of game decisions, when to call time outs, what plays to run, how to run time of the clock, how to go for the juglar. The 49ers have won 6 games because they were that much more gifted than the opponent and or had more heart (see Arizona twice). But every loss has come down to stupind decisions, and or being one step behind the other team. We are not getting pushed around, or out run. That was the team from '05. No this team loses do to (Xs and Os). What a shame

cowher is likely going somewhere on the east coast like carolina, shanahan is going to the redskins, and i don't want someone like gruden who will alienate everyone

Sigh continuity combined with having talent is what breeds championships. Look at the most consistently good teams over the past decade. Eagles, Patriots, Colts, and Steelers They have had consistency in the front office and consistency in the coaching ranks. We can't win if we are constantly retooling, tearing it down and blowing it up. Now yes there are other factors than the fact that they have had limited coaching turn over. But none the less it is an important factor. Teams like the Lions, the Redskins, the Browns and Raiders have had no stability. They interchange coach's, GM's, and players like there legos.

To succeed in the NFL you need to have a solid foundation in which to build your team around. We have to simply hope that at this point we are heading in the right direction. I personally am a fan of Sing. I like his attitude, his passion, and the fact that he has the respect of the locker room. He has a lot he needs to improve on, that being said experience is a hell of a teacher. He could be great, and so could our team. I know its tough to be patient, because for the better part of the decade we have been awful.

But the NFL is not like the NBA or the MLB. You can't just throw money at a problem, you can't expect drastic change in one season. It's a process, if you want to have long term sustainable success and not just a one year wonder you have to be patient. We are close, very close to be a very good team.

I'd agree that Singletary's been out-coached all year...but I don't agree we haven't been beaten. It's still up to the players to execute, and too many times they simply haven't. When they've had to make a 1st down or had to make a stop, they just couldn't. They've had turnovers that turned potential wins into losses...pass protection overall has been poor. The running game's been too sporadic. Way, way too many dropped passes. You can't chalk those up to the coaching...maybe partly, but those things are mostly on the players. Like Coach said, his guys have to play virtually a perfect game to win...which is another way of saying, we're close, but not "there" yet. All aspects of the team have to improve to make the playoffs...coaching, scouting, drafting, FA signing, players, execution, etc. It's a team game...coaching's only part of it.

True, and a good post. I will elaborate into next year. I have heard that 2010 is "our year". Now follow this. We will have had The Draft, Free Agency, OTAs, TC & 4 preseason games. Then ASmith goes out and attempts to throw a pass in the 1st game against live bullets. What I am saying is, yes, we will probably have even MORE talent than we have today, but, THE NEW team will have to gell and be a cohesive unit, offense and defense. There will still be a learning curve to get over. I almost want us to start the year with 2 losses, to take the new season jitters and adrenaline wins out of us. Then we can concentrate on our individual roles on the team and start out-coaching people (and pulling it off). Yes, we are very close to being a great team. Who here doesn't want a SB win or 2 for FGore or The Humble Hammer within their careers? That's what I thought.

BTW, this is the last year of the decade, so the FakeTriots decade of dynasty will be over. See, Emperor and Vader - it don't last forever.
