This loss gives us essentially two pre-season games before the off-season. Not only can we get some younger players more reps in real games but it also gives us time to work out the kinks in the offense before free agency and the draft. We are a .500 team who essentially has a head-start on next season, and something to prove next year.
Not only will be have a winning record next year but we'll make the playoffs. As bad as some of these losses were this year, we still almost made the playoffs. I'm more optimistic about this team than I've been since Mooch was in town.

We pretty much know what Smith is going to give us. I say have him and Nate split halves or have Nate start game 16. He has more talent than Smith and looked more clutch in preseason in his first year than Smith in preseason in his 5th year.

And all our losses but two (this one and the Atlanta game) have been by a td or less. Last year we were blown out in most of our games. We turn even 1/3 of our close losses into wins and we're there.
