Buyer Beware: The Cardinals Game Was A Fluke

I'm sure that the 49er's were playing motivated ball last night after what happened in Seattle. I wouldn't have wanted to have been on that plane coming home from Seattle and the following Monday. You can bet that Singletary had plenty to say to this team.

Now let's see if they can keep it up in cold and windy Philly! Think it was cold in Seattle? Wait till they get to Philly!

Good win and a good balanced attack for once. Those who were questioning Frank Gore's ability better keep their mouth shut. Same goes for those questioning Vernon Davis. They better look at his production stats! I'm sure any other team would love to have him.

Dude what are you talking about. The Niners are moving in the right direction. This was not a fluke, I THINK IT IS A SIGN OF THINGS TO COME.

We have lost 6 games by 19 points.

Yes we have been eaten up by some defenses but a lot of the time it was because the offense wasn't doing it's job. With a fresher defense, we can shut down a team.

I think Dashon Goldson had his Coming out party. He reminded me a lot of Bob Sanders last night (and shades of Ronnie Lott but no one hits like Ronnie), they look a lot alike, but Goldson blasted people and made two forced fumbles and a pick.

Hell our Best Db has been gone since Indy and our Best Lineman.....and this is a fluke?

Yes, we will mistakes because we are a young team but give them this whole team but a nice draft and key free Agent.....they can take the team to a different level.

I'm basking in the win, but know we have to play our A GAME against the Eagles.

We just match really well against the Tards which is no surprise. We were built to beat them and that's what we do.

Last 6 games: 5 49ers wins and just 1 loss.

Now we need to figure out the rest of the league.

Its funny that you pointed those specific guys out. After bearing much of brunt of the fans frustration this season, Baas looked fantastic in this game. When he was pulling, out leading the rush, he opened up some freeways for Gore. Maybe he's just one of those players who has the ability to get up for certain games, but can't maintain that level all season.

Personally, I still think that Baas and Snyder need to be upgraded. I am optimistic about the potential of Goldson and Brooks. And I think it'd be great if the Niners could keep Bly for depth next year. However, if the Niners have a chance in the offseason to upgrade any of those positions, I think they would do it.

Finally, over the last few games, I always try to factor in the reality that a lot of teams are sitting their best players because of injury or the chance to evaluate younger players as well. So in the final couple of games, some of our guys might look better against the sub-packages.

Don't forget that Snyder and Bly are both back-ups. They played pretty well for back-ups.

If the bold part of your statement is in reference to last night, you don't know what you're talking about. The cards did not intentionally sit one player in that game.

Last night, the Cards were trying to lock up the NFC West. The obviously were not sitting their starters. I don't expect that next week against the Eagles either. So to be very specific, in the last two games against the Lions and the Rams, I'd factor in the talent level when evaluating the Niners players.

To me, next weeks game might be the most important of the season. Will the Niners step up against a very quality team with an explosive offense and a dominant, blitzing defense? If they can have a solid showing in that game, I will be very impressed. And if they win, MD will have to come into this thread and eat a little crow.

the Cards swept us last year we have beat them 2 games in a row this year and we swept them in 2007

we are 4-2 in our last 6 games with the Cards

A fluke is when you beat a team that will win 9 times out of 10. This wasn't a fluke because we often or even usually beat the Cards. You can say that the 9ers played a bit over their heads and the Cards made a lot of uncharacteristic errors, but if they played again next week, the Niners would probably win again. Your mind works in mysterious ways, MD.

If we played them 10 times, we would beat Arizona 8 times.

It doesn't mean we're a playoff team or that we're a great football team.

All it means is that we OWN Arizona.
