If Nate hadn't gotten injured we probably would've won that GB game(none of our corners can tackle and Ryan Grant kept getting to the outside and we couldn't get the ball back), and maybe the game against the Seahawks(Keith Smith wouldn't have been on the field if Nate had been healthy). He shut down Fitz in week 1, he shut down Housh in the Seattle game, and he stopped Sidney Rice from doing anything when we played MN. Then he has 1 bad game vs ATL and dumbass Sing benched him for stupid TBrown. WE NEED NATE.

This.

Nate Clements was a good signing then, and it's still a good signing now.

I shudder to think how bad our pass defense would have been the past couple years without Nate Clements.

this, this, and more this

Really, how clueless can these guys get. First, as people mentioned, he gets the contract value wrong.

But that's not enough.

He baes his entire argument on the fact the we surrendered more passing yards in 2007 than in 2006. Sure, the fact that we fielded the worst offense in NFL history couldn't have anything to do with that, could it?

Really, the best answer for this guy is this:

s**t, we paid $20 mil for Brandon Jones' 1 f**king catch. Clements is way down the line of FA busts

He's better than what we had back there. And he's better than what we have now that he is injured. I wouldn't call him the worst FA of the decade.

An improved pass rush would improve Nate's play.

I don't think our pass rush is lacking too much. I don't think Clements was a bad signing at all. We need a great FS.

Okay, go back to the Falcons game. Nate went for the pick and got burned. Still, he was supposed to have help over the top but our deep guy(and when I say deep I mean so deep as to be 20 yards back), failed to read the QB and Matt Ryan stared down the pass the entire play. I threw up a little in my mouth when I saw that.

Nate is not a great cover guy but he is good in coverage. He is probably the best bump corner in the NFL and great at play recognition.

The problem is at safety.

This is what kills me about these so called "EXPERTS"! They are paid to give out knowledgeable information and yet, they continuously make stupid statements. Nate was worth every penny to me. He also says Ben Rothlesberger was a steal and that guy is so over rated to me.

Nothing like living in the right system to make you look worse than you are or even better than you are.
Thank you Nate Clements........

after making a few good plays

you bust a Dre Bly & get a little cocky & give the ball away on the INT

back to Falcons

YOU F*CKEN DUMB F*CK.................JUST GO DOWN N THE GAME IS OURS!!!!!!!!

People still think the deal was worth $80M and it's not....but that's why he's considered a bad signing. Hell, Jonas Jennings should be top 3...that f**king idiot didn't do s**t for us for 4 years and basically stole nearly $36M from this team.

Yep Jonas was by far the worst signing between the 2

Nate played well today BTW. He's certainly not why we lost. And he's a good player overall. He just jumps WAY too many routes. But his tacking is excellent and he got the turnover today. He just fumbled at the end because he carries the ball like Delanie Walker...

Nate had a hell of a game. But that fumble was amateurish.
Who cares. He has played and is the best corner we have had in years. Its not like his salary hurt us any.
Well when Nate was signed it was because a shutdown corner was the missing piece to the 9ers being a top 5 defense. Now we all know that D had a lot more holes and wasnt as good as we perceived. So if your one piece away from being good defensively to being great I think you got to go for it. Also since the niners probably cant draft a CB early next year they may need him for a couple more years.
