Great read. I agree with his assestment, even though I wanted the 49ers to make the playoffs. This is going to be an important few games & offseason to strengthn this team. Hopefully we get some good players in the draft & expand on this spread offense during the offseason.

I don't know what to think anymore. I really don't. I just know we're out of the playoffs again -- for whatever reason -- and we're not going -- again.
And it hurts man. It really hurts. Every year it hurts. It hurt last year. It hurts this year.
That's all I know. Write all you want. All I know is pain.

This was the toughest loss for me to take so far, i know the vikings game was a big blow but somehow i still feel that we could have blown out the seahawks 42- 7,it looked to me that we were the better team by far, we had so many chances, the drops, the bad calls, the coaching brain farts, mike smith...all that makes it very very difficult for me to take, add that this loss was the nail on the coffin to our playoffs aspirations and .....well you get my point

"Gore and Smith must be able to play well together."
That's the key to the offense imo.
Smith only plays well when the entire offense caters to him, in which case Gore struggles. If we give Gore his FB and a run oriented offense, than Alex can't function.
We have to find some form of offense that allows both to play well together or our playoff drought will continue. Either that or replace one of them.

The Seahawks played zone. Walker drifted outside at the snap, pulling Hill with him. Safety Deon Grant stayed outside. No one jammed Davis at the line. Davis made one cut inside and sprinted past Hawthorne in the middle of the field. Hawthorne paid a heavy price for hesitating as Davis approached him.
Mebane pushed the pocket, infringing on Smith's space, but Smith never seemed to acknowledge him, a good sign for him. Smith threw decisively. The pass traveled about 37 yards in the air. Davis had the ball in his hands before Grant and fellow safety Jordan Babineaux could close within 5 yards of him. Hawthorne stood no chance.
There's a lot more to like about Smith and the 49ers' passing game than we have seen for some time. I'll take a closer look at a Seahawks offensive play in a bit.
