Hmm. I've been thinking all along this team is not that talented, so yesterday was not all that unexpected or surprising to me. They have some good players, and even a few great ones, but not enough of those guys that can step up and seal the deal instead of shrinkage like we see in close games.

Nah, my top 3 "feeling like s**t" moments....
1) 1997 NFC Champ. game against the Packers.
-we were at home........had destroyed the eventual Champs (Broncos) @ home on Monday Night that year. Boasted the top ranked defense that year. Had the likes of Rod Woodson and Kevin Greene, along with Norton, Hanks, Stubbs, Young on defense. Seemed like our year to win it all. Brett Favre kills us again.
2) 1992 NFC Champ. game against Dallas
-better team, better players. Played @ home. Should have killed Dallas that day, but momentum was reversed after holding was called on our guy that reversed a go-ahead TD by Rice.
3) 1990 NFC Champ. game against NY
-Craig fumbles. No repeat. My heart sinks. I rank it number 3 because we had won the 2 SBs prior and had stamped ourselves as the team of the 80s. Who knew that SBs would be so hard to come by after that.
Like I said, Ive been part of a lot of heartbreakers as a Ninerfan throughout my life, including yesterday's loss...............but nothing compares to these 3.

It hurts so bad because you know we are so close. Next year we will get at least 10 wins! We should get at least 2 starters out of the draft(RT,FS,OLB) and we bring in at least 1 top tier FA(LG). We are on our way!

So close...to having at two 3rd down conversions in one game on offense. 1-13 (7.7%) on 3rd downs yesterday.
No, they are not remotely close to being a playoff contender.

The Packers one not so much for me. You could replace that with #2 and #2 with the year we didn't even MAKE the playoffs even though we had what an 11 and 3 or 11 an 5 record? (Forgive the either or issue on the record. I'm old and my CRS is acting up again)Rams took the Division and all the WC teams had really SOLID winning records.
I really HATED that. The Packers losses all get condensed into one if I go to start a top 10 worst loss category.

i knew this team was in trouble once they decided to let go terrel owens and jeff garcia, i knew it would take a long time to get the production back those players brought.

If Vd catches the td yesterday we win. If the Vikes dont get lucky on a fluke play then we are 7-5( and in the thick of the race) and playing arizona for 1st place Monday night. We are 2 plays away! Thats not close?
Think before you type!

You know as much as I hate this season for the way it's played out I had an epiphany.
This is their moments of hmmm.
All our Dynasty moments were because of a hmmmmm moment.
'80-'81 happened because '79-'80 we got PUNKED.
Lost Championship to New York? Hmmmmm
Missed Playoffs? Hmmmmm
Cowboys won Hmmmmm
The '09 9ers really hadn't had one of those. Until now.
They get to finish up the season pack up their lockers and stew about their worst season when they looked as promising as any time prior to Nolan becoming the HC.
