Montana/Rice vs. Manning/Harrison vs. Young/Rice

Montana to Rice was classic.....I really don't understand why Steve gets so much love. I know he and Rice had the records but Montana and rice brought us Superbowls....I like winning more than breaking records.....

Montana had superbowls even before Rice.

Greatest QB of all time throwing to the greatest WR of all time pretty much says it all.

Though the duration wasn't as long as Young/Manning's combos, Montana and Rice's peak was a lot higher.

This.
If you look at just number.
Manning to Harrison own the records for both receptions and TDs.
Young to Rice is second and it isn't close
Montana to Rick is third.

But if you are talking about magic with the duo
Montana to Rice are miles ahead of Young to Rice and the Colts duo
The initial thought is Young and Rice. But Manning and Harrison connection was better, strictly regarding the qb and wr relationship, combo and connection. But talent wise I would take Young and Rice. Rice better than Harrison. Steve has what Manning doesn't have, the ability to use running as a weapon in a qb.
If I have to pick a QB and a WR to start my team, I am picking the greatest QB to ever play the game, to throw to the greatest WR to ever play the game...

Forget the amount of years together...

Player for player.. Hands down it has to be Joe Montana to Jerry Rice... No question!
Montana/Rice

I didnt get to see it live because i was young but from what i have seen of those 2 just looked flawless, I mean Montana had like pinpoint accuracy and threw the prettiest ball u have ever seen into rice`s waiting hands....

Best QB - Best WR

steve and jerry. watching them work together was magical. montana and rice too but i think young and rice were a more dangerous combo. still awesome to have a debate between the best qb/wr combo with two options being on the same team hahaha

Lot of the zoners never saw Montana play. No wonder they can't relate. Montana won two SBs with Rice, that by itself is enough to put him ahead of Young and the guy from the Colts.

Manning will be forgotten??? You're nuts man. He is the best QB of his era, all due respect to Brady as he is basically a tie, but Manning has done it all. He only has one ring so far, but thats all he needs. He will be close or above Favre and Marino in every passing stat that matters, a couple MVP's, passing titles, 4th QTR comebacks etc etc etc.

I love Young, and I voted Young to Rice in a close call over Harrison/Manning, but to say Manning will be forgotten is absolutely nuts.

I'm sensing sarcasm (for your own sake), but if you're serious then this might be the dumbest thing I have read on any football-related forum. Ever.

Please tell me you were being sarcastic.

agreed. i picked young and rice because they were my favorite combo and favorite players of all time but to say manning will be forgotten is retarded. manning will be in the HOF as soon as he is eligible. and i would put him above brady, brady is awesome but he's pretty streaky, manning has been consistent his whole career. he's on pace to break 5000 passing yards this year!!! he will pass favre and marino in everything, except favre's INT record lol. manning is the real deal, he is one of the only QB's of this era that i think could hang with guys like young, montana, elway, 90's favre and aikman. quarterback play to me isnt as special as it was about a decade or two ago but manning is definitely an exception to the rule. he's already probably one of the top 4 or 5 QB's who have ever played and he's not even close to being done yet. when the dust settles, look for manning at or very close to the top
Montana to Rice was just, perfection. Young to Rice and later Manning to Harrison was more prolific, but sometimes, it's not just about number. Emmitt Smith is the NFL's all-time leading rusher, but very few would consider him the greatest RB of all time. Same with Manning and Harrison to me. They are the most prolific. But Montana to Rice was perfection. The perfect QB, with the perfect passes, to the perfect receiver. I will take their 55 TD hookups over any combination in history.
