Yeah, we're 4-6 and on pace for a 7th consecutive losing season. That's how a lot of people see it, and understandably so. However, I really believe that we're a much better team this season, and we're very close to turning the corner. We're a couple players (and maybe coaches) away from becoming a powerhouse once again.

I just wanted to point out that this season, we're only being outscored by 2 points (208 to 210), and a big reason why we've been outscored in the first place is because of the Falcons game (45-10).

Our differential since 2004...

2004: PF 259 PA 452
2005: PF 239 PA 428
2006: PF 298 PA 412
2007: PF 219 PA 364
2008: PF 339 PA 381
2009: PF 208 PA 210

I think we're slowly getting there (emphasis on slowly).
Interesting stats. If it equaled wins, I'd be thrilled.
Statistics can be misleading and open to different interpretation. Best way to measure is by how motivated our players are. Our whole organization is super motivated, from janitors to players to ball boys, everyone is motivated 24x7.

Interesting. Martz and Norv produced the most points by OC Hostler the worst (we are already just 11 points behind that total for the year)

Too bad we got rid of Martz. Imagine that 339 points scored with a good defense.

Too bad we don't have a good defense.

So maybe next year right?

Oh wait...I've heard that the last 4 years...
I agree that the team is more solid and well rounded talent wise since the end of the Mooch era. The jury is still out as far as the coaching. I think it's better than the Nolan era, but....We also need a new starting right tackle and guard. There is also a need for a W.R. that can't be caught from behind by D.B.'s so that our W.R.'s can get single coverage. We need a R.B. that has speed/moves like Charlie Garner(Sheets?) that can run outside the tackles AND be a receiving threat on passing downs. With support, especially up front, Smith will probably be able to grow.
On defense we need an outside pass rushing threat, OLB, IF we stay with a 3-4. We need an OLB that can get ten sacks a season. The three down linemen that we have now can control and provide the push up the middle, IF Franklin comes back. I like our C.B.'s a lot. If Nate C. can be moved to safety(contract?) OR we can find a ball hawk/hard hitting safety our defensive backfield could be great.
Thinking conservatively, we need at least 6 players of high quality to become a 10-6 team.
we are an OL away from being one of the top teams....which we already are very close to given that we can hang and lead the best teams when we are ON THE ROAD with KEY INJURIES (see ind, Minn), we already beat Ariz. If we get pressure a little more consistantly then we are a lock for one of the greats.

We need a new OL and OL coaches and we are good
We will not know until we see their record this year...so far, they are not impressive...but wins versus losses are the only stat that counts...
