How about bringing back Ray Rhodes to whip them DB's into shape. Maybe one of his good ol' "losing is like letting someone come in your house and beat your kids and rape your wife" speeches would do them some good. And his is one of only a couple of coaches from the Walsh and Seifert(he does also) years that has all 5 Super Bowl rings.

that is an awesome idea

I love Ray Rhodes. He was underrated for so long. But not sure he still has it anymore.

Yep Steve Young and more recently even Matt Maiocco has been saying there isn't a guy on the team that is mean enough to start chewing some guys out. All these "Nolan guys" are too nice to each other on game day.

He hired Vic Fangio, who did brilliant things on defense -- 8.8 points per game against (over their past five games). And then he ran a 3-4 defense in Baltimore with the Ravens. Very aggressive, very blitz-friendly. The 49ers have the personnel in their front seven to run that."

Very aggressive, very blitz friendly 3-4

That's exactly what I want to hear.

I thought Singletary was doing all of that and got the players all tight during the game, played like crap, couldn't think straight, to the detriment of getting a win.

Singletary would yell at guys but he would not "coach" or "teach" them. Really all Singletary did was yell at the officials

Exactly. I never got the impression that Singletary was getting on guys with the intent of having them learn what they did wrong and how to fix it right then and there and apparently Johnny Lynn didn't either. Too much scowling and yelling at referees from Singletary to focus on doing something as "useless" as coaching or teaching. If someone was to get on these players regularly at the point a mistake is made, its more powerful than "Wait till I watch the film" time rolls around.

Hell, I'd even take Eric Davis as a DB coach. Someone that knows proper technique and remembers the standards by which Championship teams play by and PRACTICE by. But regardless, Harbaugh is a breathe of fresh air for a team that has been a sht can for close to a decade. Thankfully for him, Nolan and Singletary set the bar so low that anything close to a real week to week gameplan will have all us jizzing on ourselves at this point.

Keep in mind Ray Rhodes is the assistant DB coach with the Texans that has some of the worst corner back play in the entire league.

blitzing is great and all, but we need a better secondary if that's the route we're going to take on D
I'm hearing that David Shaw might be Stanford's new HC.

I think Harbaugh might keep Johnson, but Johnson doesn't know s**t about the WCO, and he'd have to learn a new playbook. Its weird for an OC to learn a new offense that he doesn't usually use.

I think we may see a hiring of someone like Ken Zampese, QB coach of the Bengals, or maybe Bill Musgrave, QB coach of the Falcons.

I love this idea, the only question I have is how is his health? I'm up in the Seattle area and he had to be re-leaved of his defensive coordinator position and moved into an adviser roll because of health issues. The Seahawk defense went from being pretty good to awful after John Marshall had to take over. I just don't want to see another situation like what happened with the Seahawks and Alex Gibbs where he resigned a week before the season started because he was worried about his health.

I don't think he has a link to Jim, but I remeber him well. He kept T.O. in line for the most part and he sure as hell wouldn't take Crabtree's BS.
