Did you ever consider the likely possibility that Davis will look lost out there and probably be ineffective? He is a rookie from Ball State. He did good in PRESEASON. I know you feel a pressing need to act "hard" whatever you are doing due to your giant ego and tiny brain, but if you could just take one second to think about the situation, you might realize why throwing Nate Davis out to the wolves would be a bad idea.
Nate Davis is a promising rookie with talent. That's it. He has no NFL experience, he probably doesn't have much chemistry with the receivers due to lack of practice snaps, and does not know the offense as well as Smith and Hill.
Alex Smith, when given time, has done very well for us this year. He may throw more picks, but those will minimize given more playing time for Alex and more chemistry with the receivers. In the mean time, he has demonstrated that he can move the offense, something that we WERE NOT doing with Shaun Hill any more, and something that even HE couldn't consistently do earlier in his career.
In the mean-time, it's uneducated fans like you that blame every offensive miscue on Alex Smith. Yes, he's the quarterback, meaning he touches the ball every play, but there are other issues at play here. Issue numero UNO is the O-line, which cannot consistently pass-block for our quarterbacks, WHOEVER is back there. I actually think Smith has done pretty well given our bad o-line. The second issue is that we are in the process of installing a BRAND NEW OFFENSE. This is something that usually takes an entire off-season and training camp to do. We are doing this mid-season. Are you seriously expecting perfect quarterbacking at this point with no miscues? No overthrows, underthrows, mis-reads, or timing issues?
How about we add to all of this the fact that we are switching up our receivers too. Bruce is no loner in the starting line-up, with Jason Hill making his way into the rotation, and Morgan getting the starting role. These are a lot of new roles for everyone, and a lot of timing and chemistry needs to be worked out.
I know your next response is going to be to scream out "EXCUSES EXCUSES ALEXCUSES OMG EXCUSES STFU!" That's ok. That's your defense mechanism. You do it so automatically now that you can't help it. I understand, it's like a bad habit. It's hard to learn to think critically and rationally about a situation when it's obviously been so long since you've used critical thinking or rationale in any area of your life.
And seriously, you want to wish injury on someone? How would you feel if someone wished injury on your or your loved ones? You don't think Alex Smith is working his ass off to be as good as he can be? And you want him to get injured because "he sucks and is making it harder for ME to enjoy MY 49ers." How immature, selfish, and unaware can one person be?
