Travis LaBoy was a 4-3 end.
I think Ray McDonald can play as a 4-3 DE

Brooks AND Haralson can play DE's...only difference from what they do now is, putting their hands on the ground vs. standing up and rushing from the "exact" same spot at the LOS.

I would have zero faith in Haralson at DE. I know he played their in college but this isnt madden.

Brooks was an inside linebacker in college and was moved to outside. What makes you think he can play DE.

Macdonald is the only one I think would be marginally decent at DE in a 4-3 but I still dont see it. He's big and slow for a 4-3 DE.

We dont have the pieces. We just need to get more creative in blitz schemes and put in the players that are hot. I think they stick with haralson too much when he proves hes not that good.

Didn't Smith and Willis also come from a 4-3?
I always thought the point of a 3-4 was to use the LBs to blitz and to blitz in creative ways. We have zero creativity and we never sack the QB. The D is playung bad. I'm all for going back to a 4-3 at years end I feel we are better suited for it

It's interesting that Manny Lawson played DE in college.

.

WRONG. Justin Smith played 4-3 DE in Cinci before coming here and transitioning to 3-4 DE, Manny played DE in college although I like him better as a LB, and LaBoy was a pass rushing DE in TN and AZ before we got him. Go with a DLine of Smith/Franklin/RJF(or Ray Mac)/LaBoy with Haralson rotating in to give JSmith and LaBoy a break. Then put Manny/Willis/TKO as your 3 LBs. We totally have the personnel. THe only problem is Manusky is a dumbass 3-4 guy and would never switch.
what year did the niners switch to the 3-4 anyways?

Yeah the 3-4 should offer a lot more creative zone blitzes and coverage schemes than a 4-3. When I look at the 3-4 from a QB's perspective, it always looks like it's more vulnerable to the run compared to the 4-3.
BigMac was much better as a DE. That is his natural position. And how convenient. We give aubray a gazillion $$ and he goes into tank. Wonderful...at least i think we did.
Again, i reiterate, 3-4 requires the guys we seem not to have, and it requires innovative blitzes which we definitely don't have. When you don't have either, play 4-3, and we do have 2 guys who can play DE.

Exactly. It fits our personnel so much better. Unfortunately I doubt Manusky can coach a 4-3.
