what did he say? i missed it

Eric Davis said that the stadium scoreboard is not a problem...

And O'Donnell asked, in a very sharp and pointed way, "how is it not a problem when its (the punts into the board) already happened?"

You had to hear the way he said it

The Niners' reserves continue to beat up the opposition's reserves.
The only problem is that reserves are reserves.

You fail to mention that Davis has avoided the rush better than any other QB, and has put the ball on the spot, and into a tighter spots than any other QB. It maybe against reserves, but he still has better intangibles...

ahh intangibles isn't that what supposedly made Hill good?

Well Hill is undefeated at home, and manages the game very well. With Davis we can only find these out when he gets a chance (maybe not this year, but Hopefully next).

holy helluva face mask
I've watched most of this game on the tube in South Texas and Nate Davis has much better instincts than any other 9er quarterback. Hill has looked like dog doo tonight. Yes, Davis is playing against scrubs, but he is looking damned good against the scrubs. The cowboy announcers were talking about his learning disability like he is severely brain damaged. We have to keep this guy.
That was a facemask

After 5 years of Scot Mcloughan and this front office, we have the best damn second half team in the NFL....in the preseason. They're so damn good, they'll beat your backups by 1 point almost every game.

There really should be some sort of award or something.

Yeah, but a good throw is a good throw. Smith and Hill don't seem to have the skills to do the things he's capable of doing.

I'm not going to call for him to start, but there seems to be something there.

A good throw is a good throw. At the same time, Hill and Huard were getting killed out there. It is really hard to compare QB's when one guy is constantly harassed and the other has consistency from his line.

Plus, the reserves vs. reserves issue. Not facing Ware and Spencer is huge.

But...Davis is playing well.

That's not really true, to say that Davis "had time from the line."

Actually, he made PLAYS in spite of it.

He stepped up in the pocket and rolled to the outside MOST of the time. He wasn't sitting back there all day long. He made the line look good. That's what talented quarterbacks do.

Our pass rush got to Romo a couple times too, but he just avoids it and runs around.

Good quarterbacks make their line look good because they avoid the rush anyway.

The difference is when Davis steps up, nobody is in his face. When Hill stepped up, people were there.

There are seams for Davis to move, but Hill did not have that luxury.

Shaun really dissapointed me this game. i have been waiting for him to step up and play well and he hasnt done it. i just want one of our qbs to play well. and there were a few times morgan did get open but shaun couldnt get him the ball. on the bright side nate davis and sheets look good, and most of the guys on our first string d did their jobs also.
I'm looking forward to Oldman thread about each play in the first half.....I think after reading it some around here will be alittle more understanding.

i dont see how i am not being understanding. i know you can say its preseason, or you can say we are missing baas and snyder, or whatever. but those are just excuses for him like a different coordinator every year was for smith. the fact is it was our ones vs their ones and he came up with only a fg in 4 or 5 drives.

I think you're more understanding than most on here....we run on 1st and 2nd downs...then it is 3rd and Dallas is blitzing us....and our RBs are missing their blocks on top of our lineman as well....its hard to pickup a rhythm when this happens.... I'm starting to think (more like Pray) that we are not going to play like this during the regular season.... Singletary saw it last year.... we passed...and we passed successfully (with no running game...because Gore was struggling).....either way we sustained drives by passing on top of running......so as much as he might not have wanted to keep Martz around...I'm sure he is not that stubborn to not call with what works....

so I expect us to pass more than in the regular season...than what we have shown during this preseason....
Is Alex Boone doing good?
