Hi there,
I am a long time 49ers-fan from Germany an I would like to start a Jeremy Newberry appreciation-thread. In the age of the Jonas Jennings' the niners would love to have him back in his prime.
This guy was a warrior, he played hurt and was a pretty darn good center who should have been a perennial pro bowler. Too bad his knees "killed" his career.
Join me, if you appreciate this man as much as I do...
Thx

I liked him when he was here, and healthy

Newberry was a hellacious blocker, and team leader. Wish his knees woulda held up. Damn injuries really hurt em. He was on the roster of the chargers as a back up, and this year he landed a job wit the falcons. Goodluck to him.
And he whooped ass on the go cart track! C mon who doesn't like go carts lol! If he had remained healthy, no doubt in my mind he still would have been a niner today

It said he retired due to complications from the micro-fracture surgery. What are the complications?

The guy played an entire season on a knee that would have had most men crying - an absolute bad-ass if there ever was one.

Got a lot of respect for Newberry, the guy played really hard for us even through injuries, and his leadership and abilities were unmatched by anybody else at times.

My favorite lineman from the 49ers I remember playing. I remember watching a pre-game report talking about how he had to train in a pool, because his knees were so damaged. A Mauler with guts.

When the 9ers were gutted, at least we had Newberry. I know his knees are shot, and I'm sure he's in pain, but I hope the very best for him. I wish him nothing but the best.
