I haven't seen him too much either, but when I have looked for him while he's on the field (thank you TiVo), he seems like he's doing a good job. I think he's going to become a solid defensive lineman.

KB was very raw when the 49ers drafted him. It takes time for most D-linemen to develop.
So far this season, it looks like it's been RayMac year. Not to take anything away from Balmer, but RayMac has been playing great.

Yeah Balmer/McDonald come in when they got to 4 man fronts.

Balmer has been steady though. McDonald has been good.

Raymac and Balmer have had solid games so far. Its what were going to need if were going to keep being dominate on D.

Still think he's a disappointment considering he was drafted in the 1st round and we could've gotten Jackson from Cal. Then maybe we wouldn't have this Crabtree mess to begin with, and we could've gotten Brian Orakpo or Aaron Maybin.

I know: would've, could've, should've. I'm just not really that impressed with Balmer thus far. Everyone is just giving him praise for every little thing; almost like he's a toddler learning how to speak. The guy was a 1st rounder. I'm expecting a little more than knowing how to tie his shoes and come up with a few tackles here and there. Just because he's better than Reggie McGrew, doesn't mean he's a good player. I'm not saying he's horrible. I'm just disappointed that we're not getting much production out of not only Balmer, but MOST of our 1st round picks outside of Patrick Willis.

Not everyone hits in the first round. Manny, Davis, Staley, and Balmer are all huge contributors to this team. They aren't probowlers, oh wait Willis, Gore and Davis are. This team was depleted of talent almost as bad as detriot now so weve came along way in a short time.

Yes, we've come a long way, and not all 1st rounders hit. I just wish we took someone else, not Balmer. By the way, Gore was a 3rd rounder.

Not because of his talent, he had lots of injuries in college.

I just want him to continue to improve & keep playing well.
With Evans down, this should be the point at which Balmer shall be known as the Mercurial Rising!!!!! First the Shaun Hill starship, then the Alex Smith Phoenix. It is time for the Mercurial Balmer!!!!!

To tell you the truth I'm more excited about Ricky Jean Francois. He's going to play his first game this week with Evans out.
As far as I can tell, Balmer has improved greatly from a year ago. Defensive coordinator Greg Manusky is less-than candid during his weekly sessions with reporters. When I asked about Balmer, this is what he said:

"Doing well, he is doing well. He is progressing. He keeps on getting better and better each week and we are trying to get him more and more playing time and as many snaps as we can."--Matt Maiocco's Instant 49ers.

So another Scotty pick becoming a force...yea, fire him!!!

Thank P, for your dedication to our team and giving props to one of our future stars...he's doing it...a little raw, but that time with J. Smith certainly helped.
