All the details you could ever want about the design of the new Santa Clara Stadium... It looks like they actually moved the site tho. It was supposed to be on the other side of that creek (the treeline in the lower left of the first pic). They moved it right next to the existing 49ers Facility....4949 Centennial. It now looks like one big complex. I know there are alot of people who don't like it because it kinda bland, but I personally like it. It reminds me of Lincoln Financial in Philli. 98% covered is pretty much a dome

retractable roof .. dome

i don't consider any stadium where the field is open to the elements a dome, and i don't think anyone else besides you does either. when you hear dome, you expect the stadium to be fully closed off to the weather

I went to a Niner game in NO. I didn't care for football indoors. The sound and the lighting are so different. It's like watching a football game in a basketball arena. Then you have the turf issue. Most players don't like artificial turf and many think it causes more injuries. That's been an issue on this forum.

I've been there also. Older dome and the lighting isn't great. Feels like a concert bunker

which is why you would want the stadium designed to have shelter for fans and have the field open to sunlight. soccer stadiums all over the world have already figured this out. similar to what miami and buffalo have done.

As the stadium approaches the 15 year mark, I hope some major renovation becomes a possibility. Remove part or all of the 400 level, fill in the gaps and enclose the stadium.. use the height clearance to install a canopy.

A guy can dream, right? But at least we got new flashing lights.
