Obviously there have been good reports about Brooks out of Mini-camp, I wonder what his weight is right now. I doubt hes still 260, weren't there reports that he was close to 300 pounds?? Hope he does good, this might be his last chance.

I haven't seen good reports but I'm glad to hear there are some. The last I heard was that he finished a race with the linemen instead of the linebackers - that's not going to cut it.

OK maybe not as good as I made it look......

Manusky also seemed to be high on Ahmad Brooks, who could be the most physically gifted player on the defense. Brooks' problem has been motivation. It's way too soon to jump to any conclusions, but I will say that Brooks looked focused and energized during yesterday's session. "He's doing pretty good," Manusky said. "He's a bright spot at that position. The other OLBs are Marques Harris, Jay Moore and rookie Diyral Briggs.

....but its a start.

Looks like Singletary is trying out Brooks at OLB this training camp. Previously he was backing up P-Willey. Don't know how he will fair, but at 6'3" 260 lbs, 4.69 40, and a Butkus finalist, he has the athleticism to compete at OLB.

I like that Singletary is moving athletes that were riding the pine, into positions where they might actually make plays in a game. Reggie Smith at FS is another example.

I like what Singletary is doing as well. The same could be said for Balmer
Matt Barrows of the Sacramento Bee:
Defensive coordinator Greg Manusky likes what he sees -- so far -- from Ahmad Brooks.

so maybe the change has him finally settling in
regards this defense should be sick for 09'
Hopefully we really can turn what some have phrased as "a turd" -- into gold for our defense.

A-Brooks has the talent and athletic ability. He just has to want it more. He needs the will and drive. With that, even those who aren't as athletic have been able to succeed. He finds that -- he succeeds.

Kudos to Sing, we need to put our players in the best position to be a benefit to this team. Something Nolan never did.
This has been his third position move within the last two years. He was initially tried at ILB (both Ted and Mike), then 4-3 DE, and now 3-4 OLB.

Lets see how this turns out.
This must mean that they don't expect Jay Moore to make the team. He's another guy who is in a make or break position.
Where's NHAP? He should be here by now to explain how Sing's Jedi powers will force Brooks to play to a potential he didn't even know existed.

I know you can't really tell, but that doesn't look like 300 pounds to me.

I'm excited about this guy. He has the size and talent to play any OLB spot. Let's just hope he can realize it.
I like the idea of him learning from brick. If he had Bricks drive and work ethic he'd already have made the probowl with the natural talent he posses.

Jeff: "Ahmad, you've gotta bend your knees and shift into reverse to back your oversized trailer uphill."

Ahmad: "Forget this man, I could go for a Diet Coke with a double cheeseburger and chili fries right now."
