why would we trade armstead. That would go against everything Baalke is about. We would be looking to pair up the two.

he hates DE's from Oregon

Wilkerson is a perfect fit as a 5 tech, so that doesn't make any sense.
Just as Baalke wants a 2nd rd pick for Kap, you can bet the Jets want the moon for Wilkerson...would I love to see him in crimson & gold, absolutely, but at what cost? A better move IMHO is for Baalke to do whatever it takes to land Buckner in the draft...it wouldn't cost that much to move up a couple/few spots to get the best DL in this draft. I saw one poster offer up Armstead...are you freakin' kidding me? Wow. Armstead and Buckner bookending Dial/Williams would be a very talented, young front 3.

You're moving forward with Kap as the franchise QB? ...or Gabbert?

this some more
Didnt he break his leg

offer the Jets our 2nd at the most! ...they have $2.9 million in cap space and still have no QB. It's be reported they aren't even close to getting a long-term deal and they need that $15+million to sign Fitz and their draft picks. Wilk most likely leaves in 2017 anyway.

Play hardball, a team isn't gonna offer more than that IMO. He's coming off a broken leg and wants to be paid like JJ Watt.

this the most.

There is a reason they aren't interested in retaining a talent like him. It's unknown what that is so we can safely assume he is either hard to work, too demanding or they think that injury may linger. Otherwise he would be top priority to a team who's HC is a defensive specialist.

Why bail them out of a rough spot when eventually they will have to break and let him walk or let some other good players walk? On top of this they may break and give us much better value later. I'm not ready to budge for them just because they come calling and are ready to hurry and trade him. lol

Easy. They have two other top notch young DEs that are currently a lot cheaper. They are better off getting what they can rather than having to have him eventually walk for nothing.

Franchising him next year would cost tthem a hell of a lot more money too and they arent anywhere close to a long term deal so he has to be moved.

They've been trying to trade him for awhile, the problem is that their demands are stupid high. If the 49ers get to the draft and both QB's are off the board, swapping picks with the Jets in exchange for Wilkerson would be more than fair. The difference between #7 and #20 is about a late 1st rounder, more than fair. Acquire Wilkerson, then draft Lawson, Doctson, Michael Thomas or Lynch.

Another possibility is Kaepernick plus the 49ers 2nd and 5th rounders for Wilkerson and a conditional 4th or 5th in 2017. If they don't want to do it than f**k em.

if both QB's are gone and we didn't move up for Goff I'm gonna be pissed. We have a chance in the top 10 now. This year is better for a franchise QB then next year. Baalke and Chip do not have time to wait for a QB. It's the most important position to our club or any club for that matter. Without one you stand a 20% chance of winning it all and you must have a lucky run in the post season.

I'm not swapping our top 10 pick that we had to suffer and endure all season just to bail out a team that could care less about us. There is a reason they aren't anxious to move players, numbers and contracts around to find a way to keep him. That team is also ran by a defensive specialist and if he doesn't see wilkerson as a top priority there is definitely something wrong there that they are not going to make public before the trade. F that noise.

Coming off an injury that was recent and demanding more than Watt is making? Why bail them out and make ourselves impatient. NEVER make a deal in any part of life being impulsive or impatient or you will get stuck with payments on a car that is not going to be worth much in a year or two.

They're strapped for cash and will have to break and do something sooner or later. Why bail them out before the draft. let them sweat it out and make some impulsive or impatient moves by letting dudes go or cutting him or just wait until he leaves as a free agent next year. It would cost them too much to keep him for 2017.

Why not???? Wilkerson and Miller are the only two guys in this years FA worth that money.

Trading for him doesnt affect your comp pick situation and the 49ers with $50+ mil in capspace would be in a great position to frontload the deal.

That's fine but it still leaves the unknown in the end and we should still not come bailing them out like the government did the auto industry and economy. lol

I did say the same thing about him being too expensive next year though and agree there. Let's just wait them out. No need to rush for them. Always a bad idea.

Agreed. Only problem is players who have front loaded contracts tend to hold out after the big money years pass like Kam Chancellor did and Vernon Davis threatened to do. Wilkerson is not JJ Watt but he is still a top 5-10 D-Lineman. He would rush from the same side as Lynch. Downside would be that could lead to Lynch wanting a bigger contract down the road.

Not sure why you think this is all that relevant. The nature of the NFL and sports is that contracts go up. You cant compare what Wilkerson gets paid today vs what JJ Watt got in a contract that he signed 2 years ago. The salary cap just blew up, guys are getting paid more than ever. Next year it will go up some more and guys will get even bigger deals.

Wilkerson is a top 3 DE in the NFL. When guys like Malik Jackson who isnt even in the same ballpark as Wilkerson get huge contracts, you know that he is going to get PAID and its hard to argue that he isnt worth the money.

Dominant vs the run with 12.5 sacks as a 3-4 DE, he is a franchise cornerstone player and will be paid like it.

Who is bailing them out? Giving them a 1st and a 2nd rounder as they reportedly have been asking for would be bailing them out. Talking them down to a 2nd rounder+Kaepernick or swapping spots in the first if both QBs got drafted early would be a great move by the 49ers.

You get a dominant young DE with a high motor and you still get to add a high draft pick to your roster.

The end part is exactly what would turn this offseason around..
