why do bad ass elite teams have more space than us...
well, it will only come back to haunt them, if the cap is back in future years, then they are gonna need to cut payroll.

Good. SERVES THOSE WINNINGS b*****dS RIGHT!
Ok, Just took a look at my numbers for 2010, after Vernon's new deal, and projecting Anthony Davis' and Mike Iupati's 1st rd contracts, Im at $125.293M in Salaries between under contract and Dead money.

Which means Im only off by about $607K, which could be unaccounted dead money.

Thanks, AB. So if there was a cap do you think it will be about 150? If so how much will 25 million get us? Enough to sign rookies and how many players would you guess? 2-3 like Lawson/Franklin/Goldson or Smith/vet QB?

i expect the cap in 2011 to be around the 140-147M, depending on how the CBA is structured, usually the cap goes up by 7M a yr.

RIght now were looking at between 47-52M in cap space for 2011.

Take away 6M for rooks, save 5-7M for emergencies during season, then allocate some for our own FA's, like Lawson, Franklin, Smith and Dashon.

Then we could look at getting 2 of the 4 signed, and maybe tag 1 more, and only lose 1 of the big 4 FAs.

Then Spikes and McDonald are keepers, but only on reasonable deals, only McDonald i see would want more, Spikes is a leader and will wanna stay and mentor Bowman and the younger players.

then maybe extend Gore and Justin Smith, cut Clements, Norris and Snyder.

Let Evans, Sims, Wragge or Baas, Lewis go or retire.

And we should be looking at a few FAs for the team to add. And were all set.

So basically

6M for rooks
5M for emergencies
say 20M for 3 of 4 big FAs
3M for Spikes
1.5M for McDonald
give 5M extra to Gore and extend to 2014(Currently till 2011)
3M extra for Justin Smith and extend till 2016(currently up after 2013)
Cut Clements and save around 5M in 2011, and 11M in 2012 and 2013.
Cut Snyder and Save 2M
Cut Norris and save around 1M(But he may stay cause of friendship with Gore)

So, we have a total of 42.5M used, leaving between with savings from Clements and Snyder with us with 7M to spend on FAs, say we get a few lower-mid end guys.

Of course if 1 of the 3 we would re-sign want alot like 8M a yr, then let them go and replace with younger talent from FA market.

And then enjoy the 2011 season, with cap friendly deals.

phew that was a lot, lol

iPhone not happy you quote long post, compute, compute.
Thanks a lot for that AB. I pretty much agree with that... I am just hoping IF the team would think of cutting Clements we would have upgraded the position. Meaning Brown isn't the #2 replacing Nate. Hopefully Will James does well. One thing though if that cap numbers says we are at 125 and you think it is 140-147 how do you get 47-52 mil to spend? What am I misunderstanding?

oh, yeah, if there was a cap it would be 140M this yr, but for 2011, we have less commited salaries, so more cap space for 2011.

These numbers are for 2010 salaries.
