James Thompson of Illinois, a stout run stuffing DT signed.

Gave him a good amount of cash to come here.!

Fills another need potentially. Good pickup. Evan Anderson didn't improve at all. Good camp comp to see if he can crack the lineup as a reserve.
Does that signing mean the Evan Anderson experience is over?

All this is is competition, signing a UDFA isn't an automatic take that persons job
I can't believe the 49ers didn't draft a safety. Just pathetic.

JUST shows you the still in love with both Mustaf (who can't cover) and Brown (who can't play) ..
Scouting report on Dinkins is intriguing. Kamara is a nice player also.

Maybe they sign a veteran like Justin Simmons

Stupid to not value safety more, esp with John Lynch as GM.
Safety is on the field 100% of the defensive plays whereas the edge Height will probably only play 40% of the plays
Could have traded down from #33 and picked up another 4th to take a safety

I see fans that keep saying this but I still believe they were set to draft Thieneman until the Bears took him 2 spots before. That may have changed their whole draft. Thieneman is exactly what they need in the secondary. Good speed and decent size. He was better at Purdue when they used him as a free safety where he could roam around and make plays. At Oregon he was still good but was used differently.
Why would they have been so sure he (Thieneman) would be there? I didn't think he would. Like Kap said, "if you don't have a plan B, you don't have a plan." In the end, they probably should have just traded back one more time...had to be decent offers for pick 33. Ironically, seems like Kap didn't have a plan B.

Its hard to imagine any team thought Thieneman would make it to 27

looking back i think the original target was Thiniensman or/and KC

If one of them made it we would've picked at 27 but we already had a pre draft agreement to move back to 30. I also think at 30 or 33 the pick was Stribling
