Team Needs 2026 NFL Draft

Since it is very early, I am only looking at who is under contract after 2025. 49ers will resign some current players and bring in others, but here is where we will likely see the early round picks:

  1. Offensive Tackle: Trent Williams, Colton McKivitz. Spencer Burford's free agency affects depth at both OT and OG, but realistically Lynch needs to find a plus OT to replace Williams. I can't see Williams lasting past 2026, so they need to draft a starter and a swing tackle.
  2. Wide Receiver: Ricky Pearsall, Demarcus Robinson, Jordan Watkins, Jacob Cowing, Junior Bergen. Losing Aiyuk and Jennings makes this a very thin position with many question marks. Cowing/Bergen may be able to replace Moore in the return game, but they need a true #1.
  3. Defensive Tackle: Alfred Collins, CJ West, Sebastian Valdez, Evan Anderson. Promising youngsters but this area is real thin after the free agency losses.
  4. Interior Offensive Line: Jake Brendel, Dominick Puni, Matt Hennessey, Connor Colby, Drake Nugent. Aforementioned Burford departs, so you need a new starter at left guard. A plus Center would also help.
  5. Defensive End: Nick Bosa, Mykel Williams, Bryce Huff, Keion White. Depth is needed here since key players are coming back from injury. I can see a big DE and a fast EDGE being added to complement the incumbents.

The roster overall is quite strong, so a few key signings and some good picks makes this team perennially competitive.

FS might be possible if the right guy slides down into round 2
Going off of our draft history and current needs. I'm pretty confident that we're going WR 1st round this year. We could go for a pass rushing DE enabling us to move Williams inside on rush downs, but I think WR is the move.

I would love to land the kid out of USC Makai Lemon. He has the best route running in the call IMO. I just don't think he will end up falling to us.
Chris Bell is probably a more realistic option for our draft position. He's 6'2 220lbs and can turn on the jets in space. I could see Kyle falling in love with a guy like that.
If David Bailey is available when we make our first selection, I think you throw everything out the window and you go get that kid. It blows my mind that he's not considered a top 5 pick right now. Unfortunately, there is a lot of time between now and the draft so of course a lot can change but right now he's projected to go late 1st early 2nd

It's still early but one site has him in the middle first:
DRAFT PROJECTION: 1st - Mid
Overall Rank: #16 Position rank: #2 (LB)
It is insane to me that I am saying this after people called our team the Avengers just 2 seasons ago....

But we need a WR bad.
If not mistaken out of the top projected 1st round tackles only 1 is a left tackle and that is the Proctor kid from Bama. Thats a real bummer as we'll be picking in the 20s so any left tackle needy team will be snatching him up. I would love to get him and play him a guard until TW retires.

Procter hasn't got the feet, might not even go in the 1st round. Fano is the top rated guy, but he'll be long gone.

Watched Proctor in the SEC championship game. I thought he did well. He was going early a lot, but didn't get flagged so can't knock him. If he's got some warts then it hopefully just means he'll last long enough for us to take a good long look.

Looks explosive there, don't watch much Texas Tech, but might have to
I think WR will be a target if we dont get one via trade big FA signing. I personally see Kyle liking Lemon or Bernard.
Barrows chatting with two other talking heads (I think Guy Haberman and someone else) are pretty sure that 49ers will go WR/EDGE with the first two picks regardless of what they do in free agency.

I am thinking that they'll do another 3rd/4th Round try like they did with Joe Williams/Jalen Hurd/Trey Sermon since they need to find a plus RB. Robinson is agent and Isaac Guerendo/Jordan James are still unknowns.

As good as McKivitz has been at RT, why not slide him over to LT when Trent is done? Either that or I think Shanahan makes a trade for a LT, I doubt he trust a rookie to protect Brock's blindside. With that said I bet they go WR in the 1st, I would love t if Carnell Tate fell a little. lol
I could see WR or Caleb Banks..dont think a worthy Edge drops to the late 1st...there will probably be a CB worth taking. But doesnt feel like a 49er move
Most of the news coming out says that the WR class is very strong so it could be a year like when Justin Jefferson went #22 and Brandon Aiyuk went #25.
