2025 EDGE class

This looks like a nice deep class. I like Ezeiruaku from BC later if we have to address one later.

It has been known that Abdul has the highest ceiling in this class...but since he's out of range, who's next? Talking ceiling only.

That's a good question. From the list provided on the first post? For me it's James Pearce

Mykel Williams?

I dont see it with williams

Me neither.

I'm struggling to see how he is different from Drake Jackson. Both at the time of their college career coming to a close appeared to be highly athletic players of a similar size and limited to moderate production at the college level. I'd avoid him for this reason.

As for Mylel Williams, dudes a monster. Kirby Smart rotates all his Dlinemen so none have monster stats. It happened with Travon Walker. It happened with Jalen Carter and others. But all three guys have ELITE traits.

Williams is 6'5, 265 and a Travon Walker clone. He's elite and setting the edge and defending the run. Give him a year to learn behind Leonard Floyd and be a base end and move inside in nickle sets and he will be a 10+ sack guy and a game wrecker just like Travon Walker and his trajectory his first 3 years. I'm just not sure Williams will be available at 11 after the combine.

Horrible last name. Probably doesn't pass rush on his own and cries for flags anytime his man beats him.

Plus, his parents missed an excellent opportunity to name their kid Fry French, instead opting for the much more stupid sounding Ty French. Questionable blood lines at best.
Josaiah Stewart, Michigan, a little undersized, super explosive, multiple effective pass rush moves, high motor.

Really like how he attacks that left arm rather than just trying to cave his chest in
Shemar Stewart looks great in practice so far but you have to wonder about the production. He's clearly got the athleticism required but his production looks bad. What gives? I'd be very wary about using an early pick on a project guy with subpar production.

Same, would take in rd 2 but not anywhere close to the top 25 given there will be guys with upside AND production available in this deep DL class.

I would look back at the scheme there. Those 3 players are pretty damn good players imo. How does Scourton go from a 10 sack guy at Purdue to half that at A&M?

That, and he just needs coaching. Biggest thing for me coming out of seniorbowl is how easy was he to coach? He clearly is much better in the first half of his pass rush than the second...his hands stall out late and he will push his man back, but can't get off to make the play..or his feet go out of whack at the top.of his rush, and he loses balance before he can finish.
Would anyone be against trading into the top 3 for Abdul Carter?

We did the same thing with Trey Lance and survived with zero production from Trey, so why not trade multiple future 1st again to get a potential game changer across from Bosa? By the way, I'd do the same for Mason Graham.

We rarely pick this high, so why not take advantage of it? Our scouting department thrives off the middle rounds anyway, so this could be a prime opportunity to add a legit superstar talent and not really have to worry about future drafts being severely compromised.

I say we go all in and go get Carter or Graham to give Saleh the weapons he needs to rebuild us into a dominant defense again.

In order to trade for Abdul Carter, we would have to jump up to around #3, which is where we got Trey Lance. When we had to jump to #3, we had to swap firsts and give two additional 1st round picks. If we had to give up this many 1st round picks for 1 player that is not a franchise QB, I think I would pass. The Trey Lance trade set us back, not only because Lance was a bust BUT not having those other 1st round picks has made our depth lacking as seen this year.

Plus from what I read, this is a strong DL class. I would rather trade back than trade up as we need to fill many gaps (DT, DE, FS, OG, C, RT).
