Perfect year for drafting a safety

I say draft as many CBs as possible and hope we hit the lottery.
Gotta resign Moseley first. But agree.

I have a feeling we may see a jump in our some other young guys next year. It's certainly not a bad idea though as the CB position seems to be the most off and on in terms of play. So many times you see a guy come out of nowhere to play well or a guy who looked good one year suddenly look like burnt toast most of the time.

I think CB and OL are definitely the positions to invest in bulk if you're going to do it. I'm also curious what our free agency looks like...I feel like our DL has like 70% of it as UFAs.
Jimmie Ward does not look likes he's going to return after his interfview post championship game. He wants to get paid and play safety, not slot corner. Gipson is going to be 32 years old next year. Niners definitely need to draft a FS and maybe two CB's (one boundary and one slot) this year. Good thing they have 11 picks and they are very good at finding value in the later rounds. Definitely want to watch the Shrine Bowl and Senior Bowl this week to see who stands out at those positions.
Speaking of safeties, Trey Dean III of Florida played well all week in practice and then played well enough to be the Defensive MVP of the Shrine Bowl. Someone to definitely watch for the Niners:

Athletic guy. Played corner before converting to safety

I think he would fit very nicely in the 49ers defense for sure

Id like to see them take 2 that will actually make the team and get some as UDFAs as well.

Agreed. I too want 2 safeties

I absolutely want one of

Chris Smith UGA
Jordan Battle, Bama

To a lesser extent
Trey Dean, FLA
Ji'Ayir Brown

Would settle for
Sydney Brown, ILLINOIS
Jason Taylor Okla st

Wouldn't mind adding as UDFA
Tykee Smith UGA
Christian Mirgan Baylor

I like Ji'Ayir Brown and Smith from UGA. Brown is intriguing.

Who you like as a fit for the Niners?

I like Jammie as a versatile DB, I like Tykee Smith for slot/nickel/FS backup, like Chris Smith as possible future FS starter as Gipson will likely be back. I like those fits

Ha i am the wrong guy to ask. I watch college football, but not real great at evaluating guys. I just read up on all the players leading up to the draft . But based off what I've read on Jammie, he is like you said , versatile and seems to check a lot of boxes . ideally would like a guy like Ward tbh. A chess piece that can play all over. by all accounts this is a very good safety class.
