Assuming a 3rd for Jimmy, I'd go with a CB, Edge and C, I'd say WR but the emergence of Jennings we can wait until the 4-7th for a WR ( hopefully someone who could handle return duties )
so drafting a CB in the 2nd here are my top picks as of now
Roger McCreary Auburn
Martin Emerson Mississippi State
Trent Mcduffie Washington
Mykael Wright Oregon
Edge in Round 3
Logan Hall Houston
Amare Barno VT
Boye Mofe Minnesota
C in round 3
Alec Lindstom BC
Ricky Stromberg Arkansas
WR or S in the 4th
Verone McKinley Oregon
Demani Richardson T A&M
Khalil Shakir Boise state
Anaias smith T A&M
Just my opinions

I guess the good news is they are better at drafting day 2 and 3. Than they are at day 1.

With our picks, I want
2: Jermaine Johnson II, DE | FSU
3: Lecitus Smith, IOL | VT
4: Jermaine Waller, CB | VT
Hoping to use the picks we get from Jimmy for some ST help. I like Darian Beavers, linebacker out of Cincinnati. Also like NCB Marcus Jones from Houston, the best kick returner in the country.

The day 1 whiffs are overstated. The only truly bad one was 2017. As much as we dislike McGlinchey, he's a starter in this league. It doesn't justify being a top-10 pick because you expect far more, but he is a starter. Aiyuk has come on. Kinlaw we can't give a grade on yet.

Completely agree on Coby Bryant. Definitely forgot to add him, he's going to rise up draft boards.

Hard to get an elite corner with a mid to late 2nd RD pick. I would go DE and sign a couple of corners. Go after Gilmore and re-sign Verrett(he will be cheap). Low risk, high reward. re-signing Verret wasn't the problem this year, It was not having a backup plan. Gilmore and Verrett as our top two corners and Eman waiting in the wings if one of the two gets hurt. Then you can still develop both Thomas and Lenoir without the pressure of having to play them before they are ready.

I got news for you: This just in: Ambry Thomas is in the lineup to stay. You will be singing a different tune about this kid -- hopefully before the end of the season rolls around.
I believe the biggest needs are on defense. A hybrid linebacker and pass rusher would be nice. Nick Bosa draws far too much attention from opposing offenses now that Dee Ford is no longer in the mix. We also do not have a star linebacker. Fred Warner was becoming that player, but he hasn't played well during stretches of the season. Dre Greenlaw is good, when he can stay healthy. But that seems to be the case with all of our linebackers.
Still, a good pass rush can hide a weak secondary. You can't pick on the likes of Ambry Thomas, Josh Norman and others if a QB isn't given a clean pocket.

Ya, gotta hope one of the top 5 CBs fall. It is a pretty decent class as far as the top 5 goes, after that not so much. And I rather us not reach either.
Battle, S from Alabama is a very intriguing prospect, who I would like us to go after if he falls to us and none of the top CBs are there. He's projected to go mid-late 2nd round and he can play from day 1.
Im assuming we will also get a 2nd round pick for Jimmy, so even if we don't get a CB in the 2nd we can afford to draft Tartts replacement and let Tartt become a FA.
a RT would probably be the way to go with our second 2nd round pick.
3rd round is where I would take a shot on a CB if nobody fell to us in the 2nd, and probably go with Coby Bryant out of Cincy. Projected to go around that round, good size and athletic ability, and was a playmaker in college.

THREE guys I'm HOPING to see Day 2 or Day 3 and would LOVE for them to be a 49er!!
RB - Max Borghi; Washington State (if Sermon is a bust and both Mostert and Wilson are done, then I'd love for this guy to be a 49er)
WR - Jesse Matthews; San Diego State (Once you give him a chance, he wont allow you to take it back)
P/PK - Matt Araiza; San Diego State (He'll be NFL's best both as a Punter and a PK)

How many times do you think the Niners should sign Verrett and then wait for him to get hurt? So far, they made that mistake twice. Is the third time the charm? Sorry, but that ship has sailed. Time to draft a younger, cheaper option that will have to develop during the four years the Niners have them under contract.
