Myjai Sanders || Edge || Cincinnati

Is he good? I'm asking from a pretty low pass rusher IQ. I see length and speed but how is he with his hands, his bend, his counters? Seems like he's got good effort

What were some of the issues he was having? Heard he needs a little refinement

I shouldn't say bad actually… he had some good reps.

But I thought he struggled during one on ones more often than I would like.

That being said I thought this with the impression he would be one of the top edge players at the practices. If you're viewing him as a mid to late day two guy then he did just fine. Just not close to first round pick anymore.

a quick google search shows he had a pretty strong week just wasnt a top 10 prospect there it seems

He had a bad week if he was expecting to go in the first round. That's what I was trying to say but didn't choose my words correctly. He didn't stand out compared to some other guys. Boye Mafe for example.

I would still be excited if we drafted him in the 3rd round or something.

i see what youre saying

i dont think hes a great scheme fit for us anyway . Kind of a one dimensional player in our system
Sort of had a terrible combine as well, no? I was surprised he only weighed in at 228. If you are going to be light, you have to be fast, twitchy, an elite athlete. A 4.67 40 is respectable but Bonito and Mayfe are running in the 4.5s at 250 - 260 pounds. Vertical was well below average. Broad was at or below average. 20 yard shuttle was below average. Sort of looking like a third down specialist without speed. Going to have to rely on technique and length, which frankly can get you places, but I sense a fall in the draft. How much athleticism does he lose with an extra 20 pounds on him?

Apparently he was sick leading up to the combine. He was like 245lbs at the SB. I expect him to run better at the pro-day.

He was 239 lbs at the Senior Bowl which was already roughly 15 lbs lighter than his listed college weight. Now he's 228? Something's up and it's seriously damaging his draft value.

His official Senior Bowl measurements

Myjai Sanders, Cincinnati

Height: 6-foot-4 3/8
Weight: 242 pounds
Hand Size: 9 1/2 inches
Arm Length: 33 1/4 inches
Wingspan: 79 1/2 inches

cocker was talking to a scout about Sanders and says he has the frame to add more weight. He compared him to Randy Gregory coming out of Oklahoma (he was 235lbs).

if you look at Gregory now vs when he first came in the league he's gotta be like 250+ Now.

For me I tend to like the bigger DEs because you're gonna get more snaps out of them right off the bat most times. Sounds like SF is looking for that speed guy this yr. We got some good ones to choose from.

I was thinking the same thing, but the dude is trending the wrong direction. Don't get me wrong, the kid has some skills and the athleticism the Niners are likely looking for. At this point though, I would seriously think twice before drafting this kid.

P.S. Gregory graduated from Nebraska.

My bad Nebraska.

Yeah it was reported he was pretty sick heading into the combine...he just posted a video of him weighing 248lbs

Pro-day is on the 24th.

I don't see how he can't get to 250+ in the NFL. Like I said I'm always drawn towards the bigger/longer DEs (Kingsley Enagbare caught my eye early but I've cooled down on that). Seems like they're looking for that explosive edge and Sanders/Jackson/Malone/Robinson all fit that.
My early "draft crush" and Rd 2 target.....
