I keep seeing people bringing numerous QB's but Trask to me is the one that sticks out the most as the Shanahan prototype for this upcoming draft. While its very much en vogue to want a mobile passer with a cannon arm, watching Trask reminds me so much of guys like Cousins and Garoppolo. He's a classic pocket passer playing in a Dan Mullen spread offense that utilizes a bunch of NFL level concepts but is usually reliant upon super mobile passers(Alex Smith/Tim Tebow/Dak Prescott). He's got very good size for the position, coming in around 6'4" and 240, patient in the pocket with a quick release to get the ball out in a hurry and has shown the ability to diagnose defenses, manipulate defenders with his eyes and just enough mobility to be a threat to take off, especially down near the goalline, utilizing his size to full effect. He's reasonably accurate but could stand to improve his footwork to get better ball placement but he's great at getting his playmakers the ball in space to pick up YAC. I think everyone is intrigued by the crazy potential of someone like Trey Lance but I could see Shanahan going through the film of a guy like Trask and being smitten. Trask is by no means a finished or fully developed product. He was backup all throughout high school, a backup to start college and a guy who was basically doing the work and getting ready to step in and play and when he got his opportunity, he made the most of it. He has a lot of room for improvement with his footwork and stepping into throws, has a tendency to throw high at times but he's already looking quite improved this season from last year. The timing is all different with his top 4 weapons out.

Not saying he's playing well or that he's better than Jones.

But they are close.

Why do you keep bringing up Jones when someone is critical of Trask. And obviously he isnt playing well. A first round QB prospect should not be this bad on a big stage

He does quite well to throw people open and is pretty accurate overall but I still see a guy who is playing well in college and won't have success throwing at all levels of the field in the NFL. I think if successful, he will be more labeled as a game managing, "efficient" signal caller.

I agree on most of this although I disagree about him having more upside than Pennington. Chad was pretty damn good until injuries brought him down

Someone had asked what the difference was between Jones and Trask. You're seeing it tonight.

Trask struggles to reset his feet and navigate within the pocket. Jones does not.

That will matter for someone like Kyle.

His confidence is shot. He can't get into a rhythm with the coach playing yoyo with the quarterbacks. Playing the other QB more frequently lowers his draft status even more.

Because people have loved Jones and hated Trask when trask has technically played with less.

I don't know how I became Trask's lawyer but I just hate hypocrisy.

I actually like Jones more too... but it's annoying having all these haters all of a sudden hating on Trask yet pump up Jones.
