Ha...I remember that. English; one of the true OGs

I think I may have wanted Carricker for his "elite" pass rush skills...

Boy I remember this on the Webzone. I was for P-Willy!

I also remember saying WTF? to the Kentwan Balmer pick the next year.

I also thought Solomon Thomas was going to be a stud...still time! Right? right?

I was anti Soloman, pro Bosa.

But I'll admit I wanted Carriker

You and the rest of the world. This was suppose to be the safe pick. Now 90 percent of the Zone doesn't even believe he's NFL material. How we whiffed so bad is beyond me. Let's hope it turns around with Buck gone.

Never realized how close the 49ers jerseys were to OSU. The tops, not the pants. [both home and away]

They're both red with white numbers but you could say that about a lot of college teams. The stripes are a different color.

Good reminder...it's why all this Ruggs hype for me is Lynch's ruse to convince as many teams as possible to be willing to trade up to #13. Ruggs supporters don't want to hear that...but after 3 drafts and no WR's in the 1st rd, why would our braintrust change now. Lynch & Coach both know they need picks in rds 2-4. That's where they've found a lot of good players in past drafts and this is one of the deepest. WRT Bosa vs Williams, I was on the Quinnen bandwagon, but as you say, trust in the process. JL/KS have taken this once pitiful team to the SB in just 3 seasons. Couldn't ask for more in any rookie than Bosa gave us in 2019.

Excellent Post

Funny how the spin works, people also wanted Mahomes.

I wanted L. Jackson too, so if you look deeper then just last year there is some reason for concern. You could argue that the S. Thomas over Mahomes draft lost us a super bowl.

Just Sayin...

I remember that lol.

Don't forget; Trusting in the process also got us Thomas, Pettis, Ruben Foster, Joe Williams and BEAThard.

We got lucky with Bosa. Let's hope it happens again and we don't reach or stretch for a position of need.

All of those picks occurred in ShanaLynch's first draft, except for Pettis. 2017 was far and away their worst draft of the three, but they clearly learned from their mistakes and for the most part havent repeated them. In regards to Pettis, they also drafted McGlinchy (stater) and Warner (pro bowl caliber) players around Pettis, and also came up with a number of contributors in Moore, DJ Reed, Richie James, Harris and Taylor. All of their drafts, including the first and worst draft, have netted a combination of starters and important contributors. So, this coach/gm combo has proven we should trust the process.

Didn't they meet with Ruggs even before we traded Buck for the 13th pick? No chance Ruggs would be there at 31. They must like him.

I know one of the 1st round picks will be traded. the 13th overall will land us more picks. we aren't just going to give it away though. someone has to want something bad enough to come on up.

I think the Niners have a handful of guys they like at 13. if they are gone then they try to trade back. But those guys are probably the top OT"s, maybe okudah, and maybe Lamb and Ruggs. That's my best guess

To add to your point though. this year reminds me of 2018 when we all had our eyes fixated on pass rushers. Bradley chubb was not going to fall to us so most of the zone loved Harold Laundry (fell to 41). Then another group, myself included liked Minkah vs Derwin James (I was a james guy). Most were shocked when we drafted Mike Mcglinchey.

The pick worked out but those other guys look really good as well.

I'm hoping for wr help. Everyone says we are a run first team but i also know what Shanny did in Atlanta. I think we could also be an offense that just dominates with the run or pass.

I would not be surprised though if the pick is a cb or Oline and catches the fans off guard.
Never wanted Williams over Bosa. He had that pudgy baby face that reminded me of Chris Wash"out"burn

You could say that, you'd be drawing an impossibly long bow, but you could still say that.

I won't lie. I really liked Carricker and was really torn with him or Willis. I leaned toward Carriker at the time because I thought DLine was more valuable. Glad I don't make the decisions.
Worse pick... AJ Jenkins or Kentwan Balmer?

They weren't 1st rounders.....but when we drafted LaMichael James, Taylor Mays, and Tank Carradine....I was like "Drop the mic !!!!" and "Thats a wrap" ........ Sometimes, its good that Niners don't pick "your guy", cause when they don't live up you are extra mad
