I think the 49ers HAVE TO hit on an edge rusher this year, so it needs to be less of a gamble. Bosa and Ferrell have the highest floor, for sure. I'd like Ferrell to be twitchier and bendier, but he's not going to bust if he stays healthy.

Allen is the highest floor/lowest ceiling guy, which scares the hell out of me. Burns just needs to get bigger and learn how to use that size. Polite might never be a 3 down guy, but damn, he has a nose for the big play.

I don't like Sweat as much as most. I like the length, but it doesn't convert to power much on film, and he doesn't bend as much as his slender frame might suggest he would.

I think Allen's floor is Anthony Barr...so at the minimum you get a pro-bowl SAM LB and a speed rusher.

What I like about him is how much he did improve in one yr, I'm with you on being a little hesitant on how he got all that production and lack of polish. Can he continue to improve? Can kiffin coach him up? That's the risk

I'm warming up to going Allen in the 1st then getting a guy like Charles Omenihu in the 2nd to be the 3 down LEO.

I wouldn't be very happy about taking a SAM at 2, if he didn't develop into a dominant pass rusher.
Burns is growing on me as long as he does a little growing himself by the combine. Like at least 240lbs.
How long do you think Burns would last in the draft?

I mean I won't be happy, but a floor of a pro-bowl SAM that's a speed rusher, isn't the end of the world either.

Literally all of these edge rushers have their warts. QW is probably the best all-around player in this draft so end of the day you gonna be cool with taking another DT if we want BPA?

Depends how much he weighs at the combine. Imo he's a top 15 pick but who knows I thought Landry was a top end pick and didn't go until day 2 lol

Maybe a trade with Denver (10) makes sense on draft day if they want a QB assuming Bosa is not available. Wonder what we can get in that trade.

I think one thing to consider when evaluating these Edge Rusher prospects is age. Burns is just 20 years of age while Bosa, Ferrel and Allen are all 21. Burns is a year shorter in physical development than the others and though some think he may have the highest ceiling outside of Bosa he may have the lowest floor. He's a little more of a projection than the others because of this in my opinion. Polite is also just 20 and that has to be taken into consideration. Its easier to know for certain what you are getting with Bosa, Allen and Ferrell.

*highest ceiling/lowest floor

It's actually highest ceiling/widest floor, but no one ever gets it right. It's like when people say "irregardless."

I thought it was this?
1) Lowest Floor/Highest Ceiling - "Risky Pick"
2) Highest Floor/Lowest Ceiling - "Safe Pick"

Although, it is true, "irregardless" is not a word :)
