2019 Draft Crushes

David Montgomery-RB Its very unlikely that the 49ers go RB early but Montgomery is my favorite RB in this draft class. Montgomery reminds me a whole lot of guys like Arian Foster and Kareem Hunt(minus the assault and battery charges). I could see him being a monster in this scheme with his ability to break tackles and force missed tackles in the open field. A trio of McKinnon, Montgomery and Breida could be a nightmare to defend.

TJ Hockenson-TE I like both TE's from Iowa a lot though its likely that Fant goes way early. Hockenson would allow the 49ers to run some potentially explosive two TE sets with two TE's that are capable of being monster blockers as well as making plays down the field as receivers. If Hockenson comes out for the draft, he'd be mighty enticing. I'd love to see the 49ers run a lot more 12 and 22 personnel, forcing defenses into making even more difficult coverage decisions.

Max Scharping-OT I think that regardless if Staley retires or sticks around another year, tackle needs to be addressed again, in this case I would love Scharping as a developmental tackle to eventually step in at right tackle with McGlinchey moving to the left side after Staley retires. He's got the athleticism and football IQ to thrive in this scheme, just needs some better coaching, improvement to his footwork but I like him better than Brian O'Neil out of Pitt last year and O'Neil has been mostly solid for Minnesota after being pushed into the starting lineup.

Khalil Hodge-ILB/OLB Have neglected to make a thread for Hodge, he's really flying in well under the radar, doesn't get nearly as much attention as his play deserves but he's someone that the e-draftnik's have long been really big on, an impressive linebacker who could play the weakside in this defense and a California native to boot. He made some significant improvements this past season and could be an intriguing option in the 5th or 6th round. He's still figuring things out but when he gets a read on the play he comes through like a freaking missile.
