What I would have done:

1: Mike McGlinchey
2: Isaiah Oliver
3: Fred Warner
3: Ian Thomas
4: Josh Sweat
5: D.J. Reed
6: EQ St. Brown
7: Quenton Meeks
7: Jeff Holland

One of the reasons like I St. Brown...a 6'5" 4.5 WR who creates separation on smooth route running? I'd much rather 'take a flier' on a player like that than a 3rd 180 pound slot WR where we've already have a player who's proven himself in that role.

NinerGM just posted a quote on why he doesn't want to do that. Taylor is a guy who can play all 3 downs.

...But if that's the only elite trait is size, you only can put him in on the 5-yard line and throw him a jump ball. And now we have this guy that we only use on the 5-yard line who doesn't help on special teams, can't play on the field and you only dress five receivers, one guy goes down, the fourth guy is your punt returner and now you have a guy who is just a big, slow jump-ball guy who has got to play over the whole field and now you are losing because of it. You don't just go 'Hey, we need a big guy.' We need good receivers. They come in all shapes and sizes, and whatever the opportunities come, you use it as a coach the best you can."
Reading between the lines of what Lynch just said, last year they just wanted to GET a slot WR. Now they want to get a longer termed more dynamic player there. Ouch...Taylor really could be gone.
Austin Proehl to Buffalo, that was a surprise name out of a cannon.

If James can consistently get open, make tough catches over the middle and develop the level of chemistry that Taylor has with Garoppolo, maybe. I wouldn't bet actual money on it.

1-Garcon
2-Goodwin
3-Taylor
4-Pettis
5-Bourne
6-James

I think Aldrick Robinson and Bolden are both goners.

I like the draft outside of Street in the 4th and moving up to take Pettis in the 2nd (like the player though).
Trey Quinn dream crushed.

I get he is a an "OW" but we have soo many of those already, and not enough touches to go around?

Seriously. Trent Taylor, the 3rd down specialist, has got to be looking over his shoulder.

BTW: Lynch defending the ACL's/Achilles picks right now and understanding the fans are not happy.

What did he say?
Pretty uninspiring draft. I'd be happier if Lynch traded the entire draft for Bradley Chubb and a bag of chips.

I got the impression he was talking about Pettis there, not James.

Pettis can play in the slot, but he spent most of his time in college on the outside. His vertical speed makes him a good fit on the outside. I think as he adds some weight that is where they'll play him primarily, especially once Garcon is gone.
Well, our draft wasn't what I expected so that makes me wonder, I won't say it's good or bad, just different. One draft pundit said as to grading drafts before any one has played, it " Is like judging how good or bad a particular restaurants food is just by looking at the Menu. So I'll leave it at that for now. Fortyninersforever.

He starts at a position that already had a starter, but shanny obvi didnt want to play trent brown, so were fine here

2-Pettis gets snaps all over the field on offense, also becomes the main punt returner. Considering that this team had to sign Louis Murphy off the street last season, adding a receiver like Pettis wasn't a bad idea.
great receiver, great addition. But to spend pick 59 and 74 on him, when the meat and potatoes of this draft at our positions of need were in the 2nd and 3rd rounds?

3. Warner starts at MLB while Froster serves his suspension, takes over for Malcolm Smith sooner rather than later along with potentially getting some snaps at SAM.
great pick, fine value

3. Moore gets an opportunity at CB, if that doesn't work out, he is the main backup to Colbert at FS
I'd like to know what games to watch. There were good CBs on the board, and we decide to take a flyer on a safety with the hopes he can play outside corner? I dont even like his film at safety, and he hasn't played outside corner at all. Does not play as fast as his timed speed, questionable reaction speed and recognition, takes some bad angles, and I dont know how anyone says this guy is a missile. He is a very soft tackler from what I've watched.

4. Street. Sounds like he'd be a replacement for Armstead, a guy they have no plan to re-sign next year. Not a fan of this pick.
wasted pick. I like the player, even mocked him to us early in the process. But he literally just tore his acl, plays at our most heavily logjammed position, and we missed out on Josh sweat right after

5. Reed. Replaces Williams in the slot, maybe even as early as Week 1. Could turn out to be the very best pick as he's an incredibly productive, ball-hawking CB.
great pick. Hard to recognize how good this pick is since we didnt fill the hole at outside cb, but still a good pick at this point in the draft

6. Harris.
major head scratcher

7. Taylor. Size/speed prospect. Highly athletic DL that can be coached up and developed into something worthwhile hopefully.
undersized DT which means we have another project at big end

7. James. Gadget player that can contribute on special teams and be utilized out of the backfield and in the slot.

I dont see the need. But am fine with the pick.

Well in that case maybe James can make the roster.

Yeah, I like the McGlinchey and Warner picks, but I'm really iffy on the rest. I still have serious concerns as far as: pass rush, red zone offense, and the guards.
