A unexpected draft pick at 9

Lynch hasn't done any weird stuff yet. Think that went all out the door when Baalke left trying to outsmart everyone.

Davenport wouldn't be unexpected

I don't think we're taking a safety at 9. Id bet We'd take Marcus before that. And while he's not my favorite edge rusher. I'd hope we take him over them as well.

I would not be surprised at all if Lynch & co. are fans of Davenport and end up writing his name on the card. He's among the BPAs at 9 and plays a position of need. There's a lot of talk on this board about Landry (rightfully so, imo), but general consensus rates Davenport higher at the same position.

If we exclude Safety (Fitzpatrick and James) as not a top need, the most likely available targets are going to be:
Edmunds
Davenport
Denzel Ward
Landry
Roquan Smith
In that order if I had to guess...

Derwin James would be the unexpected one on your list. My twist to that would be, what if we brought him in to play CB? Who better to learn from than Sherman.

My surprise pick is Ridley, let's be clear tho, this kid is a Shanahan type of receiver. A star in the making I think, he does everything good, and can be great..This scheme is exactly him..

Yep. Derwin is a top 5 player in this draft. He didn't get the continued hype through the season because FSU sucked and had a down year.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't Derwins strongest position at SS ? I think the front office is sold on Tartt especially if Reid isn't signed, yes he has to stay healthy but when he is he's a good player who could be great..
