Where should the Niners double down in the draft?

Depends on how FA goes but at this moment id double down on OL and pass rusher.
We have no LBs.........

No talent, no depth. Draft a couple LBs, and a couple interior OL (C, G).

Need to double down on both.

I assume pass rush will be addressed in FA.

So i think we need to double down at CB and LB without a doubt. We have no depth at either position and with Rueben doing Aldon things....even if the 2nd CB/LB are later in the draft

I also think we should grab a C/G. Center for future and G to compete immediately.

There are some decent Will backers in FA so we could go that route as well. But with no depth and questions surrounding foster id still double down.

CB
I think they will draft 2 OL and depending on what position they draft in the first round they could draft 2 LB. They need ILB badly, Foster is most likely going to be out for some of the season maybe the whole season depending on what happen in court. What ever position they draft in the first round is less likely to be drafted again with the exception on OL.

Interior OL and it's not close IMO. Tough position to get street FAs to contribute at a high level if injuries hit and this class is loaded. Very possible to draft multiple starters.
I think all the Gm's are using the Andrew Luck situation on what not to do with a franchise QB. Protecting the Franchise is rule #1. Nelson would be ideal at One and with the second and two thirds they can move up and get another blue chipper.
I voted pass rush. I figure Ziggy is tagged and there are some decent OLine players they can get in free agency. Doesn't matter who our corners are if we get zero pressure on the QB.

We will always be in a shootout if we don't improve our DB's. Pass rush can be created with the blitz and Jimmy made our Oline look above avg.

I agree. It's why I want Josh Jackson at 9/10 if we don't get Melvin/Fuller in FA. And then double up on LBs and interior OL during the rest of the draft. LBs....Leonard and Jewell. OL....Ragnow/Cole and Teller + FA G

Eh! I remember getting into on this board YEARS ago about this very topic. Pass rush versus coverage. I cited a Colts/Steelers playoff game. It seemed like the Steelers was teeing off on manning the whole game. When going back through the numbers, they only got pressure on Manning not even 1/3 of his passes. it was something like 50 drop backs and 15 plays with pressure.

My argument then and now and always will be.... You have to cover those WR's 100% of the pass plays regardless if there is pressure or not. Chances are you are not going to get pressure more than 33% of the pass plays so you better damn well have some guys who can cover.

There's the argument, if you put pressure on the QB early he gets jumpy and sees pressure that isnt there. That is true but again, if you don't have guys who can cover what good does that do you?

Obviously, it would be ideal to have both. But you have to be able to cover regardless. Great coverage and good pass rush is better than great pass rush and good coverage. Cause again, it's easier to get more consistent great coverage than it is to more consistent great pass rush.

Luckily for us, i believe we are a couple/few pieces away from having both. At the very least, we should be no more than 14 months away from having that
WRs: Auden Tate & Anthony Miller
Lots of holes to fill on our current roster. There really isnt a wrong answer to the poll, we need significant upgrade in all positions listed. If i had to choose my preference would be pass rusher/LB. Of course a lot depends how the draft plays out. I still believe you always take BPA. (QB is the exception of course).

We have no corners and Akhello is more of a #2.

At LB we still have Foster (depending if he gets suspended, Eli Harold, Malcolm Smith and Brock Coyle (re-signed?)

That group helped us turn our run D around and we have Malcolm Smith coming in.

At CB we have no-one. Nothing worthy of starting and fixing a group that was 22nd in the league at 235 YPG.
