Christmas 1st Pick Poll (No Trade Downs, ~6th Pick Overall)

I choose Harold Landry. Would love to see him in this defense next year

I second that!

Him or Roquan, possibly Ridley for me. Chubb and Nelson probs wont be there.
Our Christmas present came early in Jimmy G. Now the Niners are talked about in being a landing spot for top tier FA's. Master of the obvious but any thread on draft picks is moot until we find out

1. Are we resigning Hyde
2. Is Eric Reid gone
3. Can we obtain a true #1 WR in FA (Sammy Watkins)
4. Can we obtain a true shut down CB?
5. Pass rusher
6 OL

Then what is our biggest glaring need. ILB is the least area of need, if they re sign Coyle and Smith comes off of IR, we are good at LB

Our four biggest areas of need are Guard, Leo pass rusher, shut down corner and WR. At pick 7 one of these will be available. At pick 11, still available not quite as good.

If I had my dream job and was GM at pick 7
Guard- Notre Dame
Chubb DE- I think he might fall due to various concerns that will be vetted in draft process
OT Notre Dame- not listed above, but could trade down slightly and pick him up, he could be bumped inside
Fitzpatrick or Chubb. Definite no to Nelson. That's way to early for a guard. We'll address the Oline in FA

is Chubb rated higher than Key and Landry? Just watched highlights on all 3 and Key and Landry look way better than Chubb.

I've seen Chubb mocked in the top-5 lately, with Landry going in the 10-20 range after Key. The offseason will sort these guys out. Key is the wildcard.

I wouldn't be mad if we drafted Roquan Smith. We need another stud LB to pair with Foster
Chubb is going to be off the board, as will Barkley. Not high on Key. Keep an eye on Christian Wilkins, who may end up a top 10 pick, as well as Vita Vea, who is tremendous.

Landry would be the biggest improvement to this team. A big premiere edge rusher with insane bend. It's the only thing we don't already have(unlike WLB/ILB's), can't easily acquire in free agency (unlike OG/C), can't draft in the later rounds (unlike RB/WR/OG/C/ILB), and Jimmy G's quick release can't hide(read:Oline).

Orlando Brown and Derwin James should be on this list as well, since both will be selected higher than most of the options provided.
Keep an eye on a darkhorse top 10 pick in Marcus Davenport, from Texas San Antonio. Really a blast to watch to watch on game film. Crazy athleticism. I grade him over Arden Key.

Withey no tradedowns, gotta go with Smith. Future All-Pro. And Foster makes me nervous with the injury concerns. There is also the chance we can get Ridley far lower than we cam get Smith.

Barkley, by far

This. He's the only generational talent in this draft. Pairing Jimmy G, Barkley, and Shanahan would be lethal for the next decade.

That said, I don't see a scenario where he gets past Indy, Cleveland, and Tampa Bay.

With Barkley off the board I'd take Chubb, but I see that as a long shot as well. After that, I'd be between Nelson and Fitzpatrick depending on what we do in Free Agency.

I don't expect Davenport to go anywhere that high. I like him a lot too but he's a small school guy who still has lot of work to do in terms of his fundamentals. Wouldn't be shocked if he eventually works his way into the late 1st.
If the 49ers win next week, you can take Barkley, Chubb, Smith, Fitzpatrick and potentially Nelson off the list.

Not that I'm hoping for a loss but if they are picking at #10 or #11 then you're more likely talking about a Ridley or a Landry. Maybe one of the offensive tackles potentially.

Key has the same body type as Napoleon Dynamite. Landry would be fine in the middle of the first round, but Chubb Rock looks like he'll beast in the pros.

In that scenario, I'd take Landry in the 1st, then St. Brown in the 2nd.
